Hello Parkside Families!
The first month of school has passed and everyone has settled in to their school routines. It was great to see so many parents and guardians at Back to School Night a few weeks ago, and I was so thrilled to see parents seeing their child's classroom and their desk--the things we took for granted in pre-COVID times. It was also wonderful to see folks signing up to help with PTL events and paying dues to support school activities and events through their support of PTL. See some photos below of highlights from the first month of school. While September was a busy month, October promises to be pretty exciting as well!
October kicked off with Digital Citizenship Awareness with students and staff wearing blue to be mindful of being respectful, responsible and safe online. We have also had helpful reminders provided by Mr. Gladfelter each morning to keep students aware of safe practices while on the internet and on social media. October 7th is Sun Valley High School's Homecoming Parade, the Parkside PTL has put out information for Parkside students who want to walk with the PTL group. A form was sent home yesterday to RSVP and to record the adult who will be attending with the student--please return by October 6th! Next week, Kindergarten and First grade will have a Fire Safety Presentation from the Parkside Fire Company. Picture Day is on Wednesday, October 12th followed by the first PTL Meeting at 6:30 pm in the Library. The PTL will also be sponsoring Halloween Bingo at Parkside on Friday, October 21st at 6:00-7:30 pm. Finally, October ends with Red Ribbon Week (October 24-28) and Proud of Me Day on Friday, October 28th.
Parents, start talking to your child about what they would like to highlight about themselves for our second annual Proud of Me Day! Students are asked to wear an outfit that depicts what makes them an individual and what characteristics or hobby they are proud to showcase about themselves at school. The day will include activities that show our school community what amazing talents, interests, and creative pursuits our Panthers embody and why that makes them "Proud to be Me!" Last year, we had dancers, artists, soccer players, and more; we can't wait to see how students represent their creativity and character this year!
As always, if you have any comments, questions, or concerns, please reach out! I can be reached via email at tyoung@pdsd.org or by phone at 610-497-6300 Ext. 6500.
Best,
