They Directly Attack Us - But We Stand In Good Company!
This week, at a Congressional Hearing in Washington DC, IL Governor J.B. Pritzker was directly asked about our organization, the Muslim Civic Coalition. A Republican Congressman directly attacked us and our values.
So...Who Are We and What Are Our Values?
Our mission is to relentlessly advocate for underrepresented communities of all races, faiths, and backgrounds - against hate, and towards justice for all.
In 2020, our board, staff, and volunteers stood for justice for George Floyd. We also protested Anti-Asian hate fueled by President Trump.
In 2021, we commemorated the first Juneteenth federal holiday across our nation with allies of every race, faith, and class.
In 2022, our organization helped pass several laws, one of which ensures incarcerated individuals have access to the chaplain of their faith and cultural background - to support their return to society whole and well.
In 2023, we hosted the viewing of a documentary and discussion against the mascoting of Native/Indigenous Americans by our sports teams.
In 2024, we led the Wadee Resolution that passed unanimously in the US Senate, ensuring all Americans can express their heritage through their clothing, jewelry, and voice.
In 2025, we co-sponsored the Halal/Kosher Bill with Jewish and Muslim partners and allies.
AND YES, Since October 2023,
we have stood with allies of all backgrounds and faiths, including Black, Asian, Arab, Jewish - using our Freedom of Speech and advocacy - to protest against using our US tax dollars to bomb children in Gaza while children in our own US cities need these tax dollars for healthcare, education, and public safety.
We urge a permanent ceasefire, stronger humanitarian aid to Gazans, return of hostages on all sides, and an end to starvation as a weapon against children.
We stood with Pope Francis and stand with Pope Leo, the United Nations, Greta Thunberg, and people and public officials - from Ireland to South Africa to Canada, and across the globe.
Please have our back! We need your help and support to do this work.
War mongering so-called "leaders" cannot use our nonprofit to further their agenda against our diverse, large, and ethical American Muslim communities across our nation. Our faith, scripture, and values require us to "stand for justice wherever it is needed" and so we stand for justice, peace, and equity - these are our faith values, these are our American values.
Muslim Civic Coalition is hundreds of American changemakers and organizations who stand in allyship for justice and freedom of speech - we are Muslims, Jews, Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, people of all faiths or those who choose not to follow a faith. We are people of every race and background.
I am humbled and honored to serve as Educator and President of the Muslim Civic Coalition.
