Note from the President

Dear Branch Membership,

Here we are at the end of the Certificate of Merit process for this year. Remember that this year, we need to have the MTAC coversheet shown in each video submission. Hopefully your students have been able to take advantage of the practice sight reading and theory tests offered on the parent portal. I hope everything goes smoothly in your studio.

On student recital performances, we as a board have amended the rules following the change in MTAC recording policies. If a student wishes to use a student recital performance for their CM submission, the parent recording the video shall be the one to hold the cover sheet in front of the recorder and not the student performing. This avoids any unnecessary distraction for the audience.

Please take a look at the upcoming branch events. If you haven’t in the past, I would encourage you to consider enrolling your student in one of our student recitals, or perhaps participating in the themed collaboration concert. Remember the focus of this concert is collaborative performances, if you can find a duet partner or play in a mixed instrument ensemble that would be ideal. Our theme this year is Disney.

Warm Regards,
Phil Halseth
