An Important Note From Our Founder

The news is full of the ripple effects of failing banks, nonprofit fraud, recession fears, and fake charities.

To raise funds legally and ethically Feeding Pets of the Homeless has registered as a “Charity” to solicit donations with every State having regulations.

At Feeding Pets of the Homeless we have gained the endorsement and have been verified by the following “watchdog” organizations as a nonprofit that you can give with confidence:

By supporting Feeding Pets of the Homeless by donating money, time or spreading the word to family, peers, and friends you are at the heart of our mission that believes in the healing power of companion pets and of the human/animal bond, which is very important in the lives of many homeless. They find solace, protection, and companionship through their pets. They care for their pets on limited resources so they themselves have less. Our task, nationwide, is to feed and provide basic emergency veterinary care to their pets and thus relieve the anguish and anxiety of the homeless who cannot provide for their pets.

Best wishes,

Ongoing Pet Food Drive

Whole Pet Vets hosts an ongoing pet food drive and shared this update with us: "Linda and Megan helped sort, consolidate and load up all of your donations to Feeding Pets of The Homeless this morning! We were able to take them to the drop-off point today (the donations, we kept Linda and Megan) at Wiggle & Walks Pet Care, they were so grateful!

Their team disperses your donations all over the greater Charlotte area to those that are in need and are so surprised by the amount of donations we’ve been able to drop off each time.

We did our initial pet food drive for Feeding Pets of the Homeless about a year ago but decided to keep a continuous drive going due to your constant generosity. It means so much that our community cares so deeply for others, thank you for your donations to this wonderful cause."

Thank you for your continued support! You all are doing amazing work in your community.-FPOTH

In The News - Feeding Pets: A Canny Idea Helps The Homeless

"While some may feel a person without a home should be barred from possessing a pet, the reality is far different. In a time of shelter overcrowding, surrendering a pet also means putting them at risk of euthanasia, for thousands of homeless animals are losing their lives for lack of space. Such options are unthinkable for anyone living life on the streets, where their dog or cat is their comfort and their protection, their reason for getting up in the morning."

Scientific research shows that human-animal interactions can have a powerful impact on mental, physical and social health for individuals, families and entire communities.

According to two students in the Graduate School of Social Work at the University of Denver, there are roughly 11,000 homeless shelters across the United States, with only a fraction allowing pets, leaving many people with a tough choice.

I have been reaching out to shelters for years letting them know that we will ship metal collapsible sleeping crates that become their property for reuse so that pets and people are allowed in their shelters. But only a handful have accepted these free crates.

We have shipped a total of 282 crates to 34 homeless shelters (one a domestic violence shelter) in 14 States.

If you know of a shelter in your community, please let them know we are here to help with crates, veterinary care, and pet food.
