I’ve heard some say Larkspur is broken. I disagree! Larkspur is not broken. It is a community filled with heart, history, and people who care deeply about its future. I see that commitment every day in our residents, local businesses, nonprofit organizations, volunteers, and city staff.
When Larkspur works together, we can accomplish great things. Our new library is a clear example. As a founding member of The Commons Foundation, I helped raise the $5.2 million that launched the project. Residents, businesses, community organizations, and the city came together around a shared vision and turned it into something real.
Now we must make sure the library has the ongoing funding it needs to become the community jewel we envisioned. A beautiful building is only the beginning. It needs strong programs, helpful resources, welcoming spaces, and enough staff to serve residents of every age.
We can bring that same cooperative approach to the other challenges and opportunities ahead.
We can develop housing that fits our community while meeting state requirements. That means working with residents, property owners, and developers to turn approved plans into homes, while considering traffic, infrastructure, wildfire safety, sea-level rise, and neighborhood character.
We can protect the beauty and history of downtown while helping it grow and thrive. Our local restaurants, shops, the Lark Theater, historic City Hall, and community events give downtown its identity. Supporting them will keep Larkspur welcoming, active, and connected.
We can also work with the owners of the former Lucky property to revive, rethink, and develop a site that has been vacant for too long. Residents deserve an open process and a thoughtful plan that brings new life and value to that part of our community.
This is why I am running for City Council. I want to help guide these changes through careful planning, and responsible decisions. My 18 years on the Parks and Recreation Commission have taught me that lasting progress starts with listening, building trust, and bringing people together.
Larkspur’s heart is strong. It simply needs thoughtful care, steady leadership, and people willing to do the work. I am ready to help preserve what we love while building a future that serves the entire community.
