The Story of Matthew Bunch
Dear Friends of Lions Eye Institute,
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the global community and our mission. While elective surgeries, like cornea transplants, were on hold for months, we were limited in our ability to fulfill the wishes of our eye and tissue donors who wanted to share their gifts. Although we are still not operating at full capacity, we are now able to start honoring more of our donors’ gifts and transform the lives of their recipients.

The stories of our donors’ families highlight the incredible impact of tissue donation. We would like to share the story of Matthew Bunch, a Tampa firefighter and cornea donor who passed away, but made a mark on the world by advocating for organ, eye and tissue donation.
As you can see, these beautiful stories help our community remain connected during these challenging times. If you are a donor family member, cornea recipient or one of our healthcare partners and have a story to share, we would love to hear from you: jrosa@lionseyeinstitute.org
Sincerely,
