Guest Preacher Rev. Sharon Schuler

Sunday, July 13

We welcome as worship leader this Sunday the Rev. Sharon Schuler, a native of Birmingham, born and raised in the Presbyterian Church. She received her BS degree in Fashion Merchandising from Auburn University and worked for a development company for many years. She is an ordained Deacon, Elder, and Commissioned Lay Pastor in addition to becoming a Minister of Word and Sacrament in the PC(USA).

A second-career pastor who received her Masters of Divinity degree from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia (a classmate of Nick Reed!), Sharon served two congregations in Florida before becoming Honorably Retired in 2021. Sharon loves preaching and teaching in the church. She currently serves on the Commission on Ministry for the Presbytery of Sheppards and Lapsley and as Co-Director of the Commissioned Pastor Program for the presbytery with her husband, John, also a CTS graduate. Sharon enjoys reading, needlework, and crafts. She and John now live in Birmingham and have four children and eight grandchildren spread across the country from North Carolina to Atlanta to Denver.

Elder Nominating Committee Needs Your Help

The 2025 Nominating Committee is beginning their work to nominate the 2028 class of elders for our church's session. If you have names of church members they should consider please fill this form.

First Presbyterian Church is turning 175

and we’d love for you to help us celebrate in a meaningful way!

We’re inviting everyone to make a gift to the Community Market Capital Campaign in honor of this special milestone. A suggested donation is $17.50 (or more) for each member of your household. It’s a simple way to say thanks for the past and invest in the future of our church and community.

Donations can be made any time before August 31:

- by check (please note "community market" in the memo)

- online at www.fpcauburn.org/give (see images below - choose "special offering" and note "Community Market")

More information about the East Alabama Community Market Capital Campaign can be found here: www.eacommunitymarket.com

Pardon Our Progress!

Over the next several weeks exciting improvements will be made to the entrance of our sanctuary. During this time the doors facing Thach Ave. will not be available (though in the case of an emergency, these doors are accessible.)

Please enter the sanctuary through the side door facing the courtyard or the breezeway leading to the Gay St. parking lot.

Many thanks to our Property Committee volunteers and church staff for the time and energy being invested in these projects!
