January 2023
Dear Friend,

Our faith is a journey that follows the light of Christ.

Many times, we do not know where that light will lead. Sometimes, we do not enjoy where it brings us. The magi probably experienced something similar. Yet, at the end of their journey, they were “overjoyed,” as the Scripture says.

Ignatius, “el peregrino”, understood that. It became clear to him that his way of proceeding was going to be about being a constant pilgrim; in constant search of that light that make all things new.

It wasn’t easy for him, just as it's not easy us. It wasn’t always clear which light to follow or how to follow it. Just like for us. Ultimately, Ignatius realized that he needed prayer, especially the examen, to be able to follow that light. As do we.

Let us help one another to follow that light. Let us sustain one another in prayer, as we embark on our daily pilgrimage towards Jesus himself. And in so doing, allow ourselves to be overjoyed along the way.
Un abrazo,
Carlos Aedo

CONTEMPLATIVE LEADERS IN ACTION
Pray for Our Young Adult Leaders

Please join us in praying for our Contemplative Leaders in Action participants who will gather this weekend for a day of reflection.

CLA Days of Reflection are an intentional, prayerful pause between transitions in the curriculum. On this Epiphany weekend, we celebrate the fullness of Christ's humanity and divinity; participants pause to recognize Jesus in their call to mission and action. The focus of the day is "What is my Ignatian leadership story?"
THE JESUIT LECTIONARY
The Epiphany of the Lord

"Today’s feast is about the many ways in which God has shown more about who God is, especially though the incarnation of Christ. The word 'epiphany' comes from the Greek word ἐπιφάνεια, which means 'manifestation,' or 'to appear.'"

What Matters Most and Why
by Jim Manney

The daily readings in this book emphasize answers to pressing questions about satisfaction in work and relationships. St. Ignatius and his friends believed that “God is found in all things” and “love is best expressed in deeds rather than words.” The Ignatian way is profoundly practical. It guides us through the great challenge of life — finding God and finding our place in God’s work to save and heal the world.
