May is Mental Health Awareness Month

May is an exciting month full of significant celebrations and awareness. This month we shed light on Mental Health Awareness. In today's fast-paced world, the importance of prioritizing mental health cannot be overstated. It's a reminder to pause, reflect, and extend compassion not only to others but also to ourselves. The Children's Cabinet is dedicated to supporting the mental health and well-being of youth and their families. Through programs like free Family Counseling, Youth Mental Health First Aid, and Signs of Suicide, we pave the way for a healthier, more resilient society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. "Be Seen in Green" and join us in wearing green, the official color of mental health awareness, on May 16th. Tag us in your photos on social media @thechildrenscabinet!

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 6th - May 10th, a time to express our gratitude for the unwavering support and dedication teachers provide to our children. We want to give a special thank you to our teachers at Redfield Academy who go above and beyond to inspire, guide, and nurture youth who struggle in a typical high school setting.

May 12th is Mother's Day! I enjoy a peaceful Mother's Day that starts with a great cup of coffee and a slow morning. This year, I am hopeful for warm weather that will allow us to get outside and enjoy Spring weather. I always look forward to spending quality time with my children (now adults) and my own mom. To all the moms out there, happy Mother's Day. I hope you feel celebrated and appreciated!

Thank you all for your continued support of our mission to keep children safe and families together.

Safe Place

With May being Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to remind the community about Safe Place as a resource for youth who may feel threatened at home, school, or in their community.

Safe Place provides 24/7 access to immediate help and supportive resources for youth who feel they are in a dangerous or threatening situation. Youth can visit one of the many designated Safe Place locations listed on our website, call 1-800-546-4588, or text "SAFE" and their current location to "4HELP" and a safe place case manager will assess the immediate need, ensure safety, and connect youth with the resources they need.

We want to give a big thank you to the Union Pacific Foundation for supporting this program and our mission to keep children safe and families together.
