End of summer does have some benefits.

For many August is a time for travel and last-minute time with family before school starts again in the fall. For me, I welcome a little relief from the heat and am grateful for the clear skies and light breeze hinting at fall. It makes for great outdoor events, like our August EAA rally at Bolt Field, or my recent trip to Dubuque, IA, for the dedication of the Capt. Robert L. Martin Terminal at the Dubuque Regional Airport.

Back to school may also mean an opportunity to better connect with students to inspire them with the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen and to spark interest in careers in aviation, be it guest speaker opportunities or in after-school programs.
I am always inspired by the bank of goodwill and kindness that runs deep across our organization. Thank you for being a part.

P.S. We still have two times this year when our local chapter will volunteer at upcoming EAA Young Eagles Rallies. I invite you to join us again on October 8 and November 12.

"From my grandparent, I learned..."

That sentence carries powerful meaning when that grandpa or grandma was a part of the original Tuskegee Airmen or among the thousands of women--nurses, mechanics, supply pilots and secretaries--who worked alongside them.

September 11 is National Grandparents Day!
