January 2024

Dear NEHEP Partners,

Happy New Year and welcome to 2024! If you’re looking to promote glaucoma awareness this year, we’ve got you covered. January is Glaucoma Awareness Month, so this Eye Health Connection newsletter features the latest glaucoma-related resources and events. Be sure to explore our features so you can spread the word about how people can protect their vision!

Low Vision Awareness Month is up next in February. To help you stay ahead of the game, we’re also highlighting some helpful resources about vision rehabilitation. Share these resources with your networks so everyone with a visual impairment can benefit from tips and tools that can help them live well and safely.

And finally, we’re excited about Healthy Vision Month (HVM) 2024 coming up in May. So excited, in fact, that we’re ready to announce this year’s theme: the well-established connection between vision loss and mental health, social isolation, and loneliness. We’ll be focusing on educating people with a visual impairment about steps they can take — like getting vision rehabilitation and mental health services to improve their quality of life. If you’d like to partner with NEI for HVM 2024 and help us promote messages about mental health and vision rehabilitation, please email maria.zacharias@nih.gov.

Best,

Maria Zacharias
