HAPPY CHAITRA GUDHI PADWA!

HAPPY VEDIC NEW YEAR!

Foreword from the ACVA President

Welcome to the Vedic New Year Edition of the ACVA E-News!

Dear ACVA learners, friends and alumni – There’s lots to celebrate this week: The New Moon in Pisces! Springtime Navaratri! ACVA’s 24th Birthday! So, we thought you might like to join us in feeling good, for all of these reasons. Christina Collins, our long- time board member, and one of the Saptarishis of the West, has offered some of her ideas on the Vedic New Year. We hope that you can benefit from her explanation of some of the principles of prediction, based on this important chart. Thank you Christina!

And our beloved Alma Mater, ACVA, Inc., is enjoying the benefits of her second Jupiter return. Happy Birthday, ACVA! We are so proud of the service ACVA has provided to the Jyotish community, during the past 24 years. It’s quite a milestone, to have brought the light of Jyotish to students for well over two decades. Our faculty, staff, and board of regents invite you to celebrate ACVA’s Solar Return, and Jupiter Return, in any way you deem appropriate. This is an amazing accomplishment!

We are so grateful to all of you who have contributed your time, ideas, and financial support along the way – and made this milestone event possible. Our sincere thanks, to all of you. Enjoy!

With every best wish,

Charlotte Benson

ACVA President.

New Moon in Pisces Varshphal Annual Chart for USA

New Year usually makes us think of January 1 ^st and the beginning of a “new” calendar year.

Asian cultures have an additional year based upon astrology, with many meanings and different timings for celebration and observation.

In many Asian religions a new beginning is celebrated in the Spring as in Chinese New Year (of the Pig), which began February 5 ^th , 2019. In Chinese astrology, this is an astrological year. In Vedic astrology, the New Year is celebrated when the first spring new moon in the astrological sign of Pisces appears, (Sun and Moon conjunct in Pisces), also astrological and both celebrated with festivals.

A celebration of spring, of fertile times for planting in the northern hemisphere. Because of the actual timing of the exact new moon, the exact day varies from year to year and is in March or April. This year it is April 5 ^th at 4:50 am for Washington, DC in USA. Two weeks after the (this year) full moon Vernal Equinox of March 20 ^th , 2019.
