School Board Support

Your School Board designation matters. Whether you own or rent your home, your property is linked to a school board – even if you don’t have children or your children aren’t currently attending school.

While you’re not required to make a designation, you do have the option to choose which school board you support. If you don’t make a choice, your support will default to the English-Public school board. MPAC is legislatively responsible for collecting information on school support designations under the Education Act.

Half Load Restrictions - Now in Effect

During the spring thaw, roads are susceptible to damage that could be caused by heavy weights. Half load restrictions are in effect on all roads in Mulmur from March 1st to May 15th.

When a half-load restriction is in place, it means that vehicles over 5,000 kgs (5 tonnes) per axle are not permitted to use the roadway unless they meet the exceptions under the Highway Traffic Act.

Dufferin County Road Transfers

At a Special Meeting held on February 11, 2026, Council of the County of Dufferin deferred the road transfers and implementation of the Road Network Rationalization Plan.

As a result, implementation of the Plan has been deferred for future consideration by the next term of Council. Each municipality will continue to operate, maintain, and manage its existing road network and assets until further direction is provided by the next term of County Council.

March's Green Tip

Spring is just around the corner—embrace the season by decorating in a more sustainable and environmentally conscious way. Consider repurposing glass jars, fabric scraps, and other materials you already have at home to create fresh, spring‑inspired décor. Old textiles and scrap paper can be transformed into floral wreaths, garlands, or table accents, giving new life to items that might otherwise be discarded.

Planting your own flower garden is another excellent way to bring natural beauty into your space while reducing reliance on store‑bought décor.

Curbside Battery Collection

Need to get rid of old household batteries?

Recycle them responsibly by participating in the Curbside Battery Collection happening from March 9-12.

➡️ Look for your orange battery bag in the mail

➡️ Fill up your bag with your old single-use and rechargeable batteries

➡️ Place the bag on top of your Green Bin or beside your garbage at the curb

➡️ Ensure your waste and battery bags are at the curb by 7:00 AM on your regular collection day that week

➡️ You can also drop off batteries at the Township Office during business hours

➡️ Electronic recycling is available in the bin located in front of the Public Works Building.

Recycling Cart Update

Starting in April, recycling will be even more convenient with a new recycling cart system in Dufferin County!

These carts simplify recycling, reduce litter, and provide increased storage capacity! Carts will be delivered to homes in the coming weeks and can be used as of April 1, 2026.

Questions? Contact GFL at 1-877-426-4351 or dufferin@gflenv.com.
