Seat 2: Gustavo Salerno, Director
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
ECI invites qualified professionals who are interested in serving on the ECI Board of Directors to submit their qualifications for consideration in the upcoming election.
Nominations of other qualified professionals are also encouraged. Before submitting the name of another individual, the person making the nomination should confirm that the nominee is willing and able to serve if elected.
Service on the ECI Board of Directors provides an opportunity to contribute directly to the governance, strategic direction, professional standards, and continued advancement of ECI and its professional certification programs.
As an international professional certification organization, ECI relies upon the experience, judgment, and participation of professionals representing the industries, technical disciplines, regulatory environments, and communities served by its certification programs. Board participation is therefore an important component of maintaining the integrity, independence, and long-term sustainability of the organization.
Candidates should be active professionals in good standing and must submit the required information demonstrating their professional qualifications, experience, and willingness to serve.
Candidate materials submitted to ECI may also be retained for future consideration should an additional Board vacancy occur or should the Board be expanded in the future.
BOARD SERVICE AND EXPECTATIONS
Members of the ECI Board of Directors serve in a leadership and governance capacity and are expected to act in the best interests of the organization, its certification programs, all certified professionals, and the professional community that ECI serves.
Directors should be prepared to actively participate in Board activities and contribute their professional knowledge, experience, and independent judgment to matters involving organizational governance, certification policy, strategic planning, professional standards, and the continued development of ECI programs.
Board members may also be called upon to participate in or provide guidance to committees, technical councils, special projects, governance initiatives, and other activities undertaken by the organization.
ECI is a professional nonprofit organization, and service on the Board of Directors is undertaken on a voluntary basis. Directors are therefore expected to be willing to dedicate sufficient time to responsibly fulfill the duties associated with Board service.
Individuals considering nomination should evaluate their ability and willingness to:
- Participate regularly in Board meetings and related discussions;
- Review materials in advance of meetings and participate in informed decision-making;
- Exercise independent professional judgment when considering matters before the Board;
- Support the mission, objectives, and professional standards of ECI;
- Contribute constructively to strategic and organizational planning;
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding Board and organizational matters;
- Identify and appropriately address potential conflicts of interest;
- Support the integrity and impartiality of ECI's professional certification programs;
- Participate, when appropriate, in committees, councils, working groups, and special initiatives; and
- Represent ECI professionally when participating in activities on behalf of the organization.
Board service is intended to be an active leadership commitment rather than an honorary position. ECI therefore encourages nominations from individuals who have both the professional qualifications and the willingness to participate meaningfully in the governance and advancement of the organization.
DESIRED PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
ECI welcomes nominations from qualified professionals representing a broad range of technical, professional, governmental, academic, consulting, construction, environmental, stormwater, erosion and sediment control, water quality, infrastructure, and related disciplines.

- Significant professional or technical experience;

ECI recognizes that effective Board governance benefits from a combination of technical expertise, professional experience, organizational knowledge, leadership ability, and differing professional perspectives.
