Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

Happy Easter! To make the services of Holy Week and throughout the year a time of reflection on the encounter with the Risen Christ, many parishioners lovingly worked many hours. We give thanks to our altar servers coordinated by Jennifer Kozakowski, ushers, lectors, Eucharistic ministers, and our Liturgy Team, especially Lisa Wellik, our parish staff, and our cantors, choirs and Schola under the direction of Dr. Joung-A Yum, our Director of Music, our organist, James Casey for the gift of their ministry. Thank you for coming together in community and, most of all, thanks be to God for his gifts of faith, hope, and love flowing from the Risen Christ.

As we continue this Easter Season, we will be singing the Regina Caeli after mass (before the recessional hymn) invoking Mary to join in our prayer for peace in our world. The simple chant is traditionally sung in the Liturgy of Hours during this season. The translation of the Latin text is:

Queen of heaven, rejoice, alleluia.

The Son whom you merited to bear, alleluia,

has risen as he said, alleluia.

Pray for us to God, alleluia.

In this year dedicated to St. Francis of Assisi, the saint of peace, 2026 is a Special Jubilee Year commemorating the 800th Anniversary of the Transitus of Saint Francis of Assisi — his passing into eternal life. For Francis peace was not an idea but rather a mission — rebuilding the Church, serving the poor, and crossing boundaries of fear and hostility. In our own time, marked by political tension, global conflict, and personal uncertainty, we join our prayer and mission in this special year to be instruments of the peace of the Risen Christ.

Thomas’s story is our story. We long to believe more deeply and to see Christ in the midst of fear. Jesus’s disciples, including us today, encounter the Risen Christ in different ways and at different times. And Our Lord always meets us where we are, coming through our locked doors to offer us peace and forgiveness. When we welcome Christ into our lives it is difficult not to want to share this love with others. We can—through a gift to the Together in Mission Annual Appeal, and help make Christ's presence known to those who need it most. 

For peace in every nation: for an end to the war in Iran, Ukraine. For all those wounded and killed and for the safety of service members in harm's way. For peace, may the light of the Holy Spirit transform hearts so that all may seek the way of peace together, let us pray to the Lord:
