Earth-Centered Celebrations: Lughnasa
Sunday, August 2, 9:30am - 10:20am at the bench circle
We celebrate the start of the harvest season! Lugh, or Lug, is a figure in Irish mythology, associated with skill and mastery in multiple disciplines, including the arts, oaths, truth, and the law. Come celebrate, and bring a friend, especially the outdoorsy ones!
If the weather is poor we will gather in the Chalice House.

Share the Plate: Action in Montgomery (AIM)
AIM runs free legal clinics offering first-time consultations for immigrants — a service that's needed right now, since immigrants often face urgent legal questions and legal advice can be both expensive and hard to find reliably. Cedar Lane, along with other congregations, is partnering with AIM to support these clinics and money raised this Sunday and next will be shared with AIM specifically to help fund these legal clinics.
You may give online (now with Google Pay), via Paypal, by texting 'CLUUC $[Amount]" to 73256, or by mailing it to Cedar Lane.

Many Streams, One Ocean: An Intro to Hinduism
Thursdays August 6-27 on zoom
Rooted in a 4,000-year tradition, Hinduism is the world’s third largest faith and a growing presence in American spiritual life. Seekers of many backgrounds have found in its philosophy, stories, and practices something that speaks to their own deepest questions.
Over four online sessions we will explore Hindu history, sacred texts, theology, and spiritual practice, along with its remarkable internal diversity and its place in contemporary US. We will also discover points of connection with Unitarian Universalist values and history.
Register on realm. All are welcome.

Upcoming Cedar Lane Event for Immigrant Neighbors
The Immigrant Justice Ministry Team (IJMT) is planning an event to support our
immigrant neighbors early next month, and we are recruiting volunteers to help! We'll be
working with community partners through Action in Montgomery (AIM). Our work
centers the voices and needs of neighbors who are most affected.
We'll share details about the event and sign up volunteers after this week's worship
service on Sunday, July 26, and at our IJMT meeting Tuesday, July 28 at 7pm in the
library.
Cedar Laners can help in several roles as we stand in solidarity with our neighbors.
In the meantime, here's a poem that Rev. Abhi read to open a recent IJMT meeting. In
Gate 4-A Naomi Shihab Nye writes of the ways we meet each other in the moment
and, crossing cultures and circumstances, find ways to be present.

New Member Spotlight
Greg Pawlson joined as a member by signing our membership book after service with Rev Abhi & Rev. Louise on May 3. He writes: I love learning, being in nature and being with my family, which, besides Jean, includes three sisters, four children and their spouses, and five grandchildren. I am a physician educator by background, having practiced and taught at George Washington University and worked in several nonprofit health-related organizations. My wife and I currently are engaged in leadership development and executive coaching. Our link to Cedar Lane - with a long period of interruption - goes back to 1985 when we were married in the Chapel by then minister, Ellen Faye. This photo is of my wife Jean and I enjoying hiking as we do.
