Youth Council seeking volunteers for creek clean-up

Members of the Mayor's Youth Leadership Council (MYLC) toured La Vista's Public Works facility last week. It was a fun way for students to learn about the essential services Public Works provides to residents.

The MYLC is currently working hard on their community project, which includes a Thompson Creek clean-up event.

Volunteers are welcome!

Thompson Creek Clean-up: Saturday, April 12, 8:30 - 11 a.m.

7702 Edgewood Blvd. (meet at the shelter)

Supplies will be provided. Volunteers must complete a waiver (a parent must sign for minors) and should wear sturdy shoes and pants that can get dirty.

If you are interested in volunteering, please email MYLC@CityofLaVista.org for more information.

Coming soon: Cleanup Days

La Vista Public Works will co-host a spring cleanup event with the City of Papillion April 7-13, 7 a.m.-5 p.m. each day.

This joint event will be located at 99th Circle and Portal Road on the south side of Portal Road, just east of the Papillion Public Works Facility.

The event is open to Papillion and La Vista residents only. Proof of residency is required.

Only residential items will be accepted. Commercial and business vehicles will not be permitted.

For more information, visit CityofLaVista.org/CleanupDays.

Serving our community

One of the most impactful ways of volunteering in La Vista is by serving on one of the City's boards or commissions.

There is currently one opening each on the Citizen Advisory Review (CAR) Committee and Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee. Other than being a La Vista resident, there are no requirements for the Parks and Rec. opening. The CAR committee requires experience in business finance and accounting.
