| | Jack Sanders Gifts Publishing Rights to Historical Society | |
Town Historian Jack Sanders has transferred the publishing rights for 16 of his books to the Ridgefield Historical Society, ensuring that these works will continue to be available in years to come and providing an income stream to the historical society. All the books in this gift were originally self-published by Mr. Sanders (Red Petticoat Press) and are the product of his decades of study and research into the history of the town.
| | Cooking Up History: Recipes of the Past | | This month’s item from the collection is "Choice Recipes," a cookbook from the early 1900s, put together by the women of Jesse Lee Memorial Church. Printed by The Ridgefield Press, this book was likely circulated amongst the families of the church to share easy staples and gourmet family favorites. | | Fall Happenings at the Historical Society | | Throughout September and October, Ridgefield Historical Society programs have brought town history to the forefront. October marked the 25th anniversary of the start of the Scott House’s reconstruction at its Sunset Lane site. | | Grace Clewell, In Memoriam | | |
The Ridgefield Historical Society mourns the passing of Grace P. Clewell, a former board member and longtime volunteer. She devoted many hours to the work of recording the more than 10,000 items in the historical society’s collection. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday Nov 14, at 10 a.m. at Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church.
