An urgent alert from the US Section of the
Women's International League for Peace and Freedom
Are you interested in Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, or other social media?
You can learn how to better use social media to tell WILPF stories – and expand your political influence!
WILPF US is offering trainings to help members increase our knowledge of how to work politically with social media.

If you would like to learn about Twitter, join us this Thursday, October 15, for a Twitter training – see below for link and other details.

Also, are you a Facebook user? If the answer is yes, we want to tell you about two ways you can connect your WILPF work with your Facebook posts – again, see below.

Social media can be a powerful tool. We want to help WILPFers use it more skillfully, including always  checking out stories before reposting them.

And if you use any social media, see near the end below about how you can improve the WILPF social media presence.

Watch WILPF’s social media trainings — recorded ones and upcoming live trainings!

Even if you, personally, don’t expect to be using social media, you can watch WILPF trainings – “live” or on our WILPF US YouTube channel – so you better understand how social media works and what it does.

On Thursday, October 15 – 5 pm PDT / 7 pm CDT / 8 pm EDT – tune into WILPF’s Twitter training. You must register for this Zoom training: Click here and follow the directions.

View our earlier TikTok training, which shows you how to download the app. and search for TikTok videos that may interest you, even without signing up for an account. Our training also helps you sign up, so you can tell a story via TikTok. Learn why TikTok currently has the best “coverage” of Black Lives Matter and other progressive actions! TikTok isn’t just songs or dance moves

All Zoom recordings of WILPF trainings – as well as of Disarm webinars, Earth Democracy panels, and more – are available on the WILPF US YouTube channel. For future trainings, watch for eNews and eAlert notices.

Are you a Facebook user?

If the answer is yes, we want to tell you about two ways you can connect your WILPF work with your Facebook posts.

First, would you be interested in doing some posts to help WILPF US fundraising? If the answer is yes, please let us know by sending an email to info@wilpfus.org, with a subject line of “I’m on FB.” We’ll respond to you!

Besides that, we‘d like to invite you to join our WILPF SMART FB group.  WILPF SMART (Social Media Action Response Team) is an organizing tool set up for WILPF members, and you can join!. WILPF SMART group members can post videos, photos, articles, resources, and more, for each other and for the public on our SMART page.

Only WILPF members can post to SMART, but all our posts can be viewed and shared by anyone. Help provide good material for others to share on other pages and personal Facebook "walls," and in private messages. We can all learn from each other!

Reach out to others on Facebook!

Would you be interested in posting to your Facebook friends about WILPF US events? Help get the word out to other groups, pages, personal Facebook "walls," and in private messages, and help build WILPF membership! Here, for example, is a message you can send to your Facebook friends:

Do you use any social media?

You can help WILPF increase our online influence. The WILPF US Social Media Committee is looking for people who are comfortable online to help improve our social media presence. If you're interested in taking part, please contact Darien at President@wilpfus.org.

Join us in making social media more useful for progressive activists; we’ll learn from each other!

Darien De Lu, WILPF US President
Ellen Thomas, SMART group administrator and Disarm/End Wars Co-chair
