Dear friends,

We are about to go on a journey together. Actually, you are already on the journey, it's my great privilege to come alongside you as together we move into the future, trusting God's grace and provision.

My hope is that we will be guided by a spirit of gratitude and a posture of service, both of which will stir up generosity in us. Gratitude leads to generosity as we acknowledge the ways God has blessed us beyond measure. And the inclination to serve leads us to generosity as we realize that it's not ultimately about us, but that we are called to live outwardly, seeking to glorify God and work for the healing of the world.

Generosity is on my mind, of course, because I have arrived here in the midst of Stewardship season, and I'm hoping you'll invest deeply in the mission and ministry of this congregation, so we can live into the best dreams God has for us.

It will be my honor to stand in the Covenant pulpit for the first time on Sunday, as I consider some of the teachings of Jesus (Matthew 23), and as I reflect on one essential thing I've learned about preaching. I've learned more than one thing, but one is enough for Sunday.

Grace and peace,

Ed
