Even though my car is covered is sleet, Spring is officially here. It won't be long until a lot of nursing students complete their last semester this May. My job is to help those students succeed in their last semester, pass their exit exams, and then pass the NCLEX-RN or NCLEX-PN so they can begin their careers as Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses.
Many nursing programs use computerized practice tests meant to mimic the nursing board exam like the Exit HESI or ATI Comprehensive Exit Exam to test their students in their final semester. Some programs incorporate students' scores on the exit exam as part of their grade. Some use it as a final exam in the last semester. Other schools require students to pass their final semester and then pass an exit exam prior to clearing them to sit for the nursing board exam. Others mandate remediation if students don't achieve a passing score.
Regardless of how exactly the school uses the practice exam, it is a source of stress for students. Failing can delay or prevent a student from completing their program. Thankfully, since the whole idea of the exit exams is to mimic the NCLEX, preparing for the exit exam and preparing for the NCLEX are one and the same. Many students opt to take my 4-Hour NCLEX prep class in advance of their cumulative finals and exit exams in their last semester. Others choose to finish their program and then focus on the NCLEX. I've scheduled an NCLEX prep class on Saturday April 27th for the former and another one on Saturday June 15th for the latter.
Additionally, I remain very proud of my e-book "50 Great NCLEX-RN Practice Questions with thoughtful, informative rationales." It has been updated to include reference ranges for lab values, and I added 3 NextGen case studies with navigable screens meant to duplicate the actual test format to demonstrate new question types like cloze, bow tie, trend, and extended multiple response. All with my best-in-class rationales that concisely explain the most important content. It remains available for a limited time for $25. And I still see clients who want the unparalleled support 1:1 tutoring provides all day Wednesday and on Thursday mornings.
