Jefferson and Metro named 2021 Iowa STEM BEST® Program partners

Jefferson High School and Metro High School have been named STEM BEST® Program partners of the Iowa Governor's STEM Advisory Council. They are two of 80 innovative models in Iowa working to unite the workplace with the classroom.

Jefferson's model focuses on creating STEM spaces to allow BlendED to expand and become a ninth and 10th grade core experience for all students, providing targeted interventions and authentic, community-focused enrichment experiences. Metro's model consists of designing and building a greenhouse, which will serve as a learning space and community food source.

Congratulations to Jefferson and Metro!
National Principals Month: Mike Hawley

CRCSD continues to celebrate National Principals Month with a look at one of our high school administrators, Michael Hawley.

Hawley has been the Jefferson High School principal since the 2019-20 school year.

"I love to get out and talk to our kids," he says. "The students are the best part of our schools."

Thank you to all of our administrators for the essential work put in each day to make school a wonderful place!
Middle school athletes are back in the game

After pausing athletic competitions last year during the pandemic, middle school sports are back.

“Our students are adjusting very well to being back in school sports,” says Rick Cushman, Harding Middle School girls soccer coach. “I see a love for having both the scheduled commitment to doing something positive with their time and having a distraction from all the hardship the last year has been in our community with the derecho and COVID. They come out on the field and work hard together with their teammates to learn and achieve goals while having fun.”
