Rooted in Abundance:
Full Tables, Full Hearts
| | June settled into East Charlotte the way it always does: green and a little humid, with the garden growing faster than we can keep up with and the Flag Hall filling table by table on community lunch day. This month, abundance looked like more than 100 neighbors gathered for a meal, blueberries picked straight from our own front lawn, and a community ready to roll up its sleeves for the gardens that feed us all. It also looks ahead to a breakfast in October that marks eleven years of Galilee believing there is always enough. We are grateful you are part of it. | | Galilee friends gathered at the October 10, 2025 Power of 10 Breakfast | | Save the Date: Power of 11 Abundance in Action Breakfast | | | | |
Eleven years ago, Galilee opened its doors with little more than a kitchen, a handful of volunteers, and a conviction that there would always be enough. This October, we mark that 11th year with a breakfast built around the same idea: that abundance multiplies when a community decides to share it.
We're working toward $100,000 by the end of 2026, and this breakfast is one of the biggest steps on that path. More details, including how to reserve your seat, are coming soon.
Mark your calendars and stay tuned for more details!

Still Haven't Seen Our Story?
"There is always enough, when we share it together."
| If this is your first e-newsletter issue with us, or you simply haven't had the chance yet, filmmaker Rick Fitts' short film on Galilee is worth five minutes of your day! It's the clearest answer we have to the question, "What actually happens at Galilee?" | | |
Abundance at the Table
Food is Love
| Thank you to Ben Hinchey and his family and friends for hosting our June Community Lunch and feeding around 100 guests! | Ben (3rd from left) and several people pictured above led Galilee's weekly community lunch before and during the pandemic. | | The menu had help from all over the community. Sweet Lew's BBQ donated burnt ends and chopped chicken, New Town Farms and Beth Hardin brought fresh squash, and Ramon Colon made his vegetarian rice. Every dish told us someone had thought about this meal ahead of time, and it showed. | | ✨ FREE: Donations are appreciated but not expected! 💛🙏 | | Even the fruit salad had a Galilee story behind it. Natalie Akin and her family (pictured left) picked blueberries from our front lawn edible orchard, and those blueberries ended up in the fruit salad on every plate. | |

Two workdays this spring turned empty beds into something green. Volunteers planted and transplanted dozens of new additions across Galilee's grounds. Now those plants are doing what young plants do in a Carolina summer: drinking constantly.
If you can spare even an hour between July 12 and August 2 to help with watering, reach out to Scott Geyer at scottgeyer@aol.com.

Caring for Self as You Care for the World
Most of the people reading this newsletter spend their time looking after someone else. This one's for you.
Galilee, in partnership with The Center for Wellbeing & Care at Christ Church Charlotte, is hosting a gathering built around rest, connection, and a shared meal. Amy Styers Bissette, LCSW, will lead a conversation on resilience and burnout, practical tools for staying well while doing work that asks a lot of you.
