Dear Friends,

“Take it personally!” As Women’s History Month comes to an end I’m reminded of this advice from Anita Roddick. Anita was a visionary in her industry leading the way of ethical consumerism. Putting people first, she fought for human rights around the world, always starting with whoever was right in front of her. I was lucky enough to work alongside her which inspired me to take her advice “take it personally.”

Contrary to what we are taught is good for us, to not take things personally, Anita taught me that we should take very personally the things we have the capacity to change. Take it personally that people go without food, take it personally that people go without shelter, take it personally that people feel unloved. Not only take it personally but be so offended by it that you are moved to take action to try and solve, or at least be part of, the solution.

So thank you Anita and all the other women (and men) out there who have the courage to take it personally, especially those I have the honor to work with every day at CMOH-RD!
