​Thank you for your patience as we continue to adapt to the evolving COVID-19 landscape, the University's plans for the fall, and our expectations of students. We are excited to share the following updates with you related to your arrival at Wake Forest for the 2021-22 Academic Year. 
Incoming Student (Transfer and Class of 2025) Move-In 

Incoming students will move in on Wednesday, August 18, and Thursday, August 19. Due to the physical nature of our communities for these students, we will require move-in appointments. This is to help manage traffic and ensure everyone is able to move in smoothly. 

Our new students (℅ 2025) will be able to schedule a move-in appointment for 9 a.m., noon, or 3 p.m. when housing assignments are released the week of July 23rd.

Check-in will take place at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial (LJVM) Coliseum between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. BEFORE coming to campus.  

Transfer students may arrive at any time on August 18 or 19 but should plan to be moved in by 5 p.m. on August 19. These students will also check-in at LJVM BEFORE coming to campus.
Continuing Student Move-In

Rising sophomores (℅ 2024) may move in beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, August 20. Students should check-in at LJVM between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. PRIOR to coming to campus. These students will NOT require a move-in appointment. 

Rising juniors and seniors (℅ 2022/23) may move in beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, August 21. Students should check-in at LJVM between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. BEFORE coming to campus. 

Any student who will be arriving after 5 p.m. or after August 22 should fill out this form. Failure to do so could result in a delayed check-in.
Move-In Safety

As previously communicated, Wake Forest requires all students enrolled in the Fall 2021 semester to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless they are granted a medical or religious exemption. That said, the move-in period will be a time of high traffic in and out of our communities, and students may have family members assisting them who have not met CDC criteria for fully vaccinated status. To protect our community and each other, we ask all individuals coming to campus to follow the CDC guidance for preventing the spread of COVID-19 (see Unvaccinated and Vaccinated guidance).

Finally, as noted by the CDC, some people need extra precautions to protect themselves from COVID-19 because they are more likely than others to become severely ill if infected. Please be mindful of these considerations as you determine who might join you on campus during the move-in period.

Early Arrivals

Students participating in an approved early arrival program (pre-orientation, athletics, etc.) have received direct information from our office with their move-in date and instructions. Please be sure to review that information carefully. If you no longer plan to arrive early, please let us know by emailing housing@wfu.edu so that we can update your records.
Students Returning from Outside the United States

The CDC has issued guidance for international travel during COVID-19, available here. The University’s expectation is that students will strictly adhere to this guidance. The University will not be able to provide housing for travel quarantine (as recommended for unvaccinated travelers) or post-travel testing (as recommended for both vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers). Students should complete any CDC-required quarantine prior to coming to campus.

We realize that many students have already made their travel plans, so please review the information below as you prepare for your arrival in the U.S. and ultimately at Wake Forest. Please note that these options are for students returning from a residence outside of the U.S.

  • Arrival in Winston-Salem before August 13 - Students will need to make their own housing arrangements, as the University will not be able to provide any housing at that time. 
  • Arrival in Winston-Salem after August 13 - Students may request early arrival to begin on August 13. The fee for early arrival for international students is $15.00 per night. Please note that prior to arriving for check-in to University housing, students will need to follow the CDC guidance around international travel; students should not expect to use their on-campus accommodations as a quarantine space. To request early arrival, please email housing@wfu.edu with your name, student ID number and planned arrival date and time. Those who will not be able to arrive prior to 5 p.m. on their preferred date should also fill out this form to avoid a delay in check-in until the following day.
Vaccination Requirement

As noted in a July 14 message to the University community, “on Aug. 1, the University will begin the process of removing students who have failed to provide the required documentation for COVID-19 vaccination from enrolled courses and assigned housing.” 

Note that students who have their housing canceled may not be able to receive the same housing assignment once cleared for returning to housing. Additionally, students who have their housing canceled may not move in until they have been cleared for return to housing. These students should not come to campus for early arrival or move-in until they have been cleared for return to housing in writing.
