TESOL 24 International Convention & Expo Brings IVLP Project, Other Exchanges to Tampa Bay
| |
Arriving in Tampa Bay to attend the TESOL 2024 International Convention and Expo at the Tampa Convention Center, this 22-country multi-regional group of TESOL professionals had a session with Ms. Janna Eveland, Assistant Director, International Student Support, USF World, who discussed how USF supports international student success from recruitment to enrollment to graduation and beyond. She also brought in a panel of students to discuss navigating U.S. culture from an international student's perspective. (TESOL stands for "Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages".)
WP also partnered with FHI 360 to host a delegation of 91 TESOL professionals from 45 countries for this annual conference (below right). World Partnerships greatly appreciates the opportunity to work with FHI 360 and its outstanding delegation.

Help Build More World Partnerships! | |
|
For three years, World Partnerships has brought the US Department of State IVLP Special Initiative "Hidden No More: Empowering Women Leaders in STEM" to Tampa Bay to explore our STEM educational resources and inspire our students.
Above, women leaders from Antigua, Brazil, Norway, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Uganda and Uzbekistan celebrate their roundtable discussion and lunch with Seminole High School "Women in STEM" students in October 2023. These women leaders engaged with students at Richard O. Jacobson Technical High School (Tech High) and Lakewood High School Center for Advanced Technology, St. Petersburg College Innovation Lab, and USF St. Petersburg Campus.
Another example of how World Partnerships brings the World to our community!

We've Moved!
At the end of 2023, World Partnerships relocated to a private office inside Thrive DTSP, a co-working community with over 90 companies on site – tech, start-ups, NGOs, media, artists, a district Congressional office, and everyone in between!
Our new office has welcoming communal space, outstanding meeting space, and a great location in downtown St. Pete, with views of the skyline and the tree canopy in Williams Park! Pictured at top left , Al Tompkins talks artificial intelligence with journalists from Niger in the Thrive "Learning Lab" . Below left, Pakistani journalists gather for a photo with Al in the Thrive Community Workspace!
