Wrapping up Third Quarter

Impossible! In four short weeks, we will have finished the third quarter of the year, distributed report cards, completed parent-teacher conferences, and begun the last quarter of the 2025-2026 school year!

This time of year feels different. We’ve been back from holiday break for over six weeks, making great academic progress despite the “snow day”, MLK Day, and Presidents’ Day.

A couple of weeks ago, we had a wonderful tour, “Around the World,” with interesting facts, food, and fun for all! Our students and teachers worked together to create “country pride”. I was excited that each student had the opportunity to speak to an audience about their country, and did so with confidence.

In the next six weeks, we are chock full of learning experiences, including:

  • Field Trips: Dock Street Theatre, Newberry College, Trident Tech
  • Oyster Roast! March 6: I know, it’s not a student event, but adults in the Trident Academy community will get an opportunity to learn more about each other.
  • Tornado Drill: March 11
  • Pi Day: March 13
  • Parent/Teacher conferences: March 19 (upper school only); March 20 (both upper and lower school)
  • Accreditation Team visit rescheduled: March 25-27
  • Science Fair: March 27
  • Spirit Week: March 30-April 2
  • Spring Break! Begins April 3

The last six weeks have flown by, and the next six will as well. Time has a way of doing that! I encourage you to savor each moment. Our precious children will remember that we care, that we celebrate, and that we are proud of their hard work.

Enjoy the weekend!

Blessings,

Betsy

We can't wait to see everyone this March!

Uniforms!
We're in the coldest time of the year, so it's important for our students to stay warm -- especially when they're outside for recess. In addition, as our students have grown since the start of school, several of them have begun to outgrow their shirts, shorts, and skirts.

With many students wearing identical school-branded items that end up in our lost and found, please be sure your child's Trident gear is labeled with their name.

Re-Enrollment Period: February 2026

Re-enrollment invitations for 2026-27 were emailed to current 1st-11th grade parents on Tuesday, February 3. If for some reason you did not receive this email or the February 12 reminder, please contact Director of Enrollment Erik Kreutner (ekreutner@tridentacademy.com). Thanks to the families who have already submitted their children's re-enrollment information!

We have started accepting new students for next year, and it will be important for us to know how many students we can accept. We are grateful that our parents continue to entrust their children's education to Trident Academy!

Upcoming Parent Education Events

As a founding member of the Association of LD Schools, Trident Academy is proud to offer our parents access to parent education events presented by other ALDS schools.

  • On Tuesday, February 24 (6:00 pm), The Fletcher School in Charlotte will offer a lunch-and-learn event titled Navigating Social Media: Supporting Your Child’s Mental Health. This online session will explore how social media influences mental health, self-esteem, and attention, as well as the unique challenges it presents for children with executive functioning differences. Parents will gain practical strategies for setting healthy boundaries, fostering open communication, and guiding their children toward balanced and mindful social media use. More information can be found here. (Please note there is a $10 registration fee.)
  • On Tuesday, February 24 (7:00 pm), The Craig School in New Jersey will offer a webinar titled Tools for Empowering Emotional Strength. Parents will learn practical tools to help manage emotions and strategies that support kindness, confidence, and resilience. More information can be found here.
  • On Wednesday, February 25 (7:00 pm), Landmark School near Boston will offer the second part of its webinar series focusing on social-emotional learning, titled Self-Awareness & Self-Management for Struggling Learners. Managing emotions and actions without practical tools and strategies can be challenging—especially for school-aged children. Parents will learn skills to support their child with emotional vocabulary, managing frustration, building self-confidence, and how executive function is at play in these skills. More information can be found here.

WHAT'S HAPPENING ON CAMPUS:

Our 4th and 5th graders had a wonderful time at the South Carolina Aquarium this week! From exploring the Great Ocean Tank to visiting the Sea Turtle Care Center, our Seahawks loved seeing marine science come to life.

Our Lower School students recently held their very own Shark Tank event with Dr. Sanders! Students stepped into the spotlight to pitch their unique product designs to their classmates. This project was a fantastic way for our Seahawks to build confidence, practice persuasive communication, and explore the basics of innovation and design.

In art this week, our students explored the beauty of the Lowcountry’s local wildlife by exploring the traditional art of fish printing—painting beautiful, textured fish and then carefully pressing them against their canvases. This hands-on process allows them to capture the intricate details and patterns found in nature, revealing a stunning "masterpiece" with every print!

Our middle schoolers performed "Word Surgery" this week to master the science of contractions!

In this hands-on, multi-sensory lesson students deconstructed words by carefully cutting them apart to remove the "unnecessary" letters. They then repaired the gap by replacing the missing pieces with an apostrophe before successfully rebuilding the words to create a perfect contraction.

By using this visual and tactile approach, our students aren't just memorizing rules—they are building a deep, lasting understanding of how language works.
