Principal's Message...
Greetings, Timmons Families!
As you receive this newsletter, students and staff will be enjoying spring break. The break provides everyone a chance to catch their breath and gear up for the conclusion of the school year. It is important that we finish strong as we have grown so much already this school year. Please remind your child the importance of being a Timmons Hero. We expect students to follow directions, use kind words, keep hands, feet and objects to self, and respect property. It is easy for students to become complacent about those expectations at this point in the year. However, as we return from break, it will be important to mention these expectations daily so that we finish on a positive note!
We also want to remind families that all student consumable fees, tuition, and lunch balances should be paid in full at this point. If you are not sure if you paid the fees for each child you have, you can log into the Parent Portal and select fees to check. Negative balances will impact student participation in field trips, field days, and other extracurriculars.
As spring approaches, I encourage everyone to head outside, get active, and enjoy the longer opportunities of daylight! We hope all our families enjoy a little down time with spring break and we can’t wait to see our students back at school on Monday, March 31st!
Sincerely,
Dave Rogaliner

Learning to Say Something...
Sandy Hook Promise’s Say Something program teaches students in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade to recognize the warning signs of someone at-risk of hurting themselves or others and how to say something to a trusted adult to get help. At Timmons, students learned the difference between "snitching" and saying something to help, rather than hurt. We identified various trusted adults throughout the building and encouraged students to think about and identify for themselves the adult they felt most comfortable speaking with about a serious concern. These lessons align with the introduction of our new STOPit system for anyone who would like to anonymously report concerns to building and district administrators. Visit www.stopitsolutions.com for more information or to download the app.

A Rainbow of Healthy Choices...
Wellness Update - Eat the Rainbow Week:
Eating a rainbow of fruits and vegetables is important in order to provide our bodies with a vast array of nutrients. Students at Timmons viewed videos that showcased some familiar faces teaching others about the importance of eating a variety of fruits and veggies in order to help their body stay healthy. Some of the fruits and vegetables in the videos were provided for students to eat in their school lunches as well! Linked below are the videos, created by our student council members. They did a fantastic job - the videos are informative and fun!

A Living Wax Museum...
On Thursday, March 6th all of 3rd grade participated in a living wax museum! To prepare for this project each student picked a biography to study. They read and researched their person focusing on finding important events that happened in their life, why that person was famous, a meaningful quote, and what they learned from studying their biography that we can all apply to our daily lives. As a background for our wax museum each student designed their own poster. Students brought in props and struck a pose that best captured the individual they studied. With a simple push of a button "students came alive" and shared the information that they learned!

A Green Inspired Program...
The 1st Grade Students performed "The Green Machine" on March 19th. It was a program with songs and facts about how we can help protect our environment. We want to thank our PTO volunteers for helping us prepare decorations - they looked fatastic! We also want to thank our art teachers for having the students create a sign for the program out of recyclable materials. Due to a team effort, we were able to put on an amazing program!

Kenston Schools Introduces STOPit
Kenston Schools has partnered with STOPit Solutions, a nationally recognized leader in school safety and wellness. The STOPit platform has replaced the Safer School Tipline on the district website, been added to the main page of students' Chromebooks, and features an app available on both the App Store and Google Play.
This partnership provides our entire school community access to the STOPit anonymous reporting app—a powerful tool designed to deter and swiftly address instances of bullying, school violence, self-harm, and inappropriate behavior. Another key feature of the STOPit app is the availability of 24/7 Crisis Counseling, which connects users in distress with trained crisis counselors. Recognizing the importance of immediate support, users can text with a counselor at any time, day or night, until they feel safe and calm.
