Breakthrough Prayer

God, break through my prideful desire to sound capable, talented, or competent in the eyes of others, so that I might live today surrendered to your Spirit's power flowing through my words and actions instead. Amen.

June 14 Is Rainbow Sunday

Rainbow Sunday is coming, and you’re invited to a day overflowing with joy, color, and courageous love. On June 14, we’ll celebrate the diversity of God’s creation, honoring the Christ who embraced outcasts, lifted the marginalized, and defied the boundaries of exclusion. The morning begins with a full breakfast at 8:45 in the Multipurpose Room, followed by one vibrant combined worship service at 11:00 in the Sanctuary, featuring the Equality Chorus, our Choir, and Contemporary Worship Band. Rev. Caryl Russell will bring a message of hope, justice, and belonging. Come shine with us; your presence makes the rainbow brighter.

VBS Celebration!

Our kids have just finished up a great week of Vacation Bible School. As part of Rainbow Sunday, we will be celebrating our children and all they learned at VBS this week. During Rainbow Sunday worship this Sunday, June 14, the children will share about their VBS experience and one of the songs they learned. Come celebrate our wonderful First Church kids!

Second Saturday Servants

Second Saturday Servants is a new opportunity for you to help out First Church “by our service." The church needs YOU to help with projects both inside and outside the building.

Join us on Saturday, June 13, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. near the front entrance of the church. If you can’t attend in June, please add us to your calendar.

Community Celtic Worship

Anam Cara, a Celtic term meaning “soul friend,” reflects a deep, essential connection, so vital that one without it has been likened to “a body without a head.” More than close companionship, it also includes a spiritual friendship with oneself and the Creator.

This Sunday’s Community Celtic Worship service will explore this rich concept. In a culture often shaped by consumerism and division, the service offers a chance to reclaim the value of genuine friendship and soul care. Celtic writer John O’Donohue reminds us that Anam Cara extends beyond human relationships to an inner, sacred connection.

Through poetry, prayer, scripture, music, and communion, participants will be invited to listen deeply to their own souls and to the divine. The service is a collaboration among St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, The United Church (Chapel on the Hill), and First United Methodist Church. It is held on the second Sunday of each month at 5:00 pm.

This Sunday, June 14, FUMC will host. For more information or to participate by reading, being an usher, or helping to set up, please contact Rev. Jenny Caughman at jennycaughman@gmail.com.

Come, make space for your soul and rediscover the beauty of deep friendship.

Summer Choir

Join Summer Choir this June and July! No experience or long-term commitment is required—simply show up in the choir room on any Sunday at either 8:25 a.m. or 10:40 a.m. to participate. Summer Choir is a great opportunity to sing, meet others, and contribute to worship during the summer months. For more information, contact Josh Sumter at jsumter@fumcor.org.

Summer Ice Cream Social

What's the best thing in the world on a hot summer day? Ice cream, of course! It's time to dust off the old ice cream maker and pull out those "tried and true" recipes (or polish the spoon and empty the stomach). First Church is having an Ice Cream social on Sunday evening, July 5, following Evening Grace worship. Gather on the front lawn (we'll move to the MPR if the weather requires) to enjoy homemade (or not) ice cream, a little bit of friendly competition (who does it best?), and plain old-fashioned fellowship. It's guaranteed to be a great summer evening with even better company. All are welcome!

Ecumenical Storehouse Volunteer Opportunity

Volunteers are needed in June for the Ecumenical Storehouse. In 2026, First Church is only responsible for providing volunteer leaders for one month. June is it! Volunteers are needed for warehouse and office duties on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings from 9:30 a.m. until 12:00 noon. No heavy lifting is required. For more information or to sign up, please call or text Barbara Hudak-Scheirer at 731-780-5689 or follow the link below.

June Special Offering -

Reconciling Ministries Network

The Special Offering for the month of June will support the Reconciling Ministries Network (RMN).
