It is with mixed emotions that the Psychonomic Society announces that its 2021 Annual Meeting (Nov 4-7) will now be a fully virtual conference.
The health and safety of our membership has always been our top priority. We can’t tell you how much we were looking forward to seeing many of you in-person in New Orleans. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Delta variant, closed U.S. borders, and the way COVID restrictions would constrict and negatively impact the experience of an in-person gathering, the PS Governing Board has decided that it is in the best interest of the membership to cancel the in-person portion of this year’s meeting and transition to a fully virtual conference. We do not feel that it is wise to ask our members to consider traveling to New Orleans under the current conditions.
Virtual meeting technology has come a long way in the past year. Even while preparing for a hybrid conference, we have been hard at work building a new and improved virtual meeting space. Our priorities include addressing the primary pain points from last year’s conference, including redesigning the poster hall experience, as well as building a platform that makes it easier and more natural to connect with other attendees.
We sincerely hope that all of you will still join us for the 2021 Annual Meeting. We can’t wait to meet again in-person, but for this year, we hope to see you online.
Looking forward, the Society will be expanding its travel awards and family care grants for 2022, in order to help as many Psychonomes as possible come together in-person. Stay tuned for more information.

Family Care Grants
Applications for the 2021 Family Care Grant are due Sept 12th. Available to help cover the cost of childcare, elder care, or any other qualifying activity, the Family Care Grant is meant to help you enjoy the virtual conference and get as much out of the meeting as possible. If you have financial need, take advantage of this available assistance and apply today. All applications received to date will be automatically considered for virtual meeting assistance.
Thank you for your understanding of this move to a fully virtual conference. We look forward to seeing you online in November for a new and improved Virtual Psychonomics!
Yours in Service,
PS Governing Board
