Dear Residents -

While I normally like my introduction to be light and cheery, sometimes world events are too significant to ignore. In this case, it was the tragic plane crash that took place on Wednesday evening, resulting in the death of 67 people. It is heart-wrenching to hear from the loved ones of the victims, making it all too real. And while there are no words that will comfort the families at this time, it is also not the time for speculation, politics or blame—it is time for a thorough and complete investigation to determine what went wrong and what we need to do to make sure it never happens again.

Now, back to local programming. If you are looking for something indoors to do this weekend, on Sunday, February 2, 2025, there will be a Penguin Plunge Guest Bartending event at O'Grady's Castle from 1 pm to 5 pm. It is a fantastic opportunity for families to come together, enjoy live music from Kieran Moran & special guests, and help support local families.

And, I’m very excited to announce that Rockland County’s oldest playhouse has found a home right here in Orangetown! The Antrim Playhouse, located at 32 Old Tappan Road, Tappan, NY, has been completely renovated and is ready to make first-rate community art. Want to check it out? Starting next Friday, February 7, 2025, there will be a performance of Steel Magnolias. Be sure to grab your tickets HERE before it is sold out.

Lastly, Sunday is Groundhog Day and here are some fun facts about it. In 2024, 68 groundhogs in the United States made weather predictions for Groundhog Day. Chuck, the Staten Island groundhog, with an 85% accuracy rate, is placed well ahead of other groundhogs, including Punxsutawney Phil! So, let’s hope Chuck does not see his shadow!

Have a great weekend everyone and, for those who celebrate, Happy Lunar New Year!

Regards,
