2027 Stewardship Campaign
Through October 29 , we have received pledges totaling $694,050 toward a goal of $1,250,000 in support of our 2027 operating budget. Although our formal campaign has concluded, your Gratitude and Generosity Team will pursue and accept 2027 pledges throughout the remainder of 2026 while we continue to approach our goal.
Confidential pledges may be submitted by mail to FPC-B’s Financial Administrator, Tori Stadler, or electronically through the “Pledge Online” application of the church website’s home page, or by utilizing the QR code below. Additional pledge cards are available in the narthex.
NOTE: As you begin to consider your calendar year-end giving, keep in mind that you may make gifts through donations of appreciated stock, and for those who qualify, you may utilize your IRA assets to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), which might also help satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD). You are encouraged to seek advice from your financial planner as you ponder these decisions. We sincerely appreciate your generous commitment to the continuation of God’s work.

Online Giving Update
We have recently been made aware that the QR Code on the e-giving Offering Ritual Card does not work. We are in the process of getting these cards remade. You will notice in this Sunday's bulletin, a QR code has been inserted at the offering time for your online giving convenience. That QR code is below as well.
The church office is just beginning the process of converting our church management software to a new system. The "people" part of this software hopefully will be available soon. (See below) However, the financial part will take some time, and so we are waiting to remake the online giving Offering Ritual cards until that is in place, so that we won't have to do that twice!
Your patience and understanding is appreciated.

Taize Worship Opportunity
In following our mission statement, the youth are exploring different worship styles to deepen their understanding of what worship can look like. For the month of November, you are invited to join the youth group in an evening of Taizé worship.
Taizé is a monastic community in France with a distinct worship style. People around the world come to Taizé for the simplicity of living, connection with other spiritual seekers, and intense periods of prayer and devotion. Services occur three times a day, led by the brothers, denoted by simple meditative chants in a variety of languages and a period of silent prayer. Led by Eleanor Hill, church intern and youth advisor, we will be having our own Taizé service in the chapel on November 1st at 5 PM.
More information can be found about the community here, https://www.taize.fr/en/. For questions about the service, please email youth@fpcburlington.org.

Furniture Ministry News
The October 24 churchwide Furniture Ministry workday was a huge success. Many, many thanks to all 27 of you who participated! Together we were able to furnish 7 homes, bringing relief and joy to 12 adults and 9 children. In addition we made two donation pickups.
As always there was lots of good fellowship, fun and laughter, and a few tears shed in the prayers said with our very grateful recipients.
The next churchwide workday is scheduled for Saturday, November 21, the weekend before Thanksgiving—a perfect time to share our gratitude by reaching out to others.
Reminder: donations to the Furniture Ministry can be dropped off on Mondays from 1-4:00 pm at the warehouse. For pickup of larger items, call 336-212-2937.

Mission Yearbook: 70 years of women clergy are celebrated
In 2026, the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) is celebrating 70 years of women clergy. Twenty years ago, the PC(USA) held anniversary events to celebrate the 50th year of the ordination of clergywomen, the 100th anniversary of women deacons and the 75th anniversary of women elders. These events were a result of General Assembly action referred to the Women’s Ministries unit who were charged with planning these celebrations.
At the event held at Fourth Presbyterian Church in Chicago, the Rev. Margaret Towner, the first woman ordained as a minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church in the United States of America (PCUSA), was one of the featured preachers. She was quiet, humble and welcoming, characteristics that she undoubtedly employed as she navigated her ministry in 1956 as the first woman to serve in this role in the Presbyterian Church.
Despite the attention and recognition she received at her ordination — her photo was featured in Life magazine and other publications — Towner said she “chose to avoid the limelight and continue my work in the local congregation.” No one will ever fully understand her experience. Suffice it to say that she paved the way for many others to follow her.
