North Carolina has been very fortunate to see the number of long-term care outbreaks and staffing shortages decreasing over the past few months. We are very grateful to see this overall improvement and have seen a similar decline in the number of requests for staffing support in both LTC facilities and for vaccine sites.
Due to this positive trend, the decision has been made to end the COVID-19 medical staffing project. As of July 16, 2021, we will no longer be accepting any new LTC staffing missions or vaccine support staffing requests with the intent that this program will completely end on July 31, 2021.
We strongly recommend that LTC facilities establish and utilize arrangements with healthcare staffing agencies and/or other licensed facilities to address any future staffing shortages.
