NEWS & UPCOMING EVENTS

Welcome Kristen, Our New Finance Manager

Please join us in welcoming Kristen to St. John’s as our new Finance Manager! Kristen brings 16 years of experience in corporate accounting and finance and looks forward to putting that experience to work in support of the parish’s ministry. Outside of work, she enjoys life as a mom and has a strong interest in health and wellness. She is grateful to be joining the St. John’s community and looks forward to getting to know you. If you see her around, please stop and introduce yourself!

Meet the Organ with Simon Morley |Sunday, October 18 | Following the 11:15 a.m. Mass

Join our Organist and Director of Music, Simon Morley, for a behind-the-scenes introduction to St. John’s magnificent pipe organ! Simon will demonstrate how the organ works, share a little about its history, and explain what makes this remarkable instrument such an important part of our worship.

All are welcome, especially newcomers and anyone who has ever wondered what goes into producing the music we hear each Sunday. This is a wonderful opportunity to see (and hear!) the organ up close and learn from the person who knows it best.

We're especially looking forward to welcoming our friends from Cornerstone Kids for the afternoon.

Youth volunteers are encouraged to help and can earn service hours. We're also collecting donations of supplies for the event. Please contact Ayana Grady if you'd like to volunteer, and visit the wish list linked below if you'd like to contribute.

Email Scam Alert

Recently, fake emails claiming to be from Fr. Chris and other St. John’s staff have been sent to parishioners. These messages often ask for “help,” a “discreet request,” or unusual questions about parish directory information. They are scams. Please do not reply or click any links—simply mark the message as spam in your email program (such as Outlook or Gmail) and delete it. Remember that official St. John’s emails will always come from an @stjohnstampa.org or @stjohnseagles.org address. Because of the way email works—specifically the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) that underlies email—it is unfortunately impossible to completely prevent spoofed messages from being sent. For that reason, reporting them to the church does not help stop them. The best thing you can do is mark the message as spam in your email program and delete it. Thank you for helping us keep our parish community safe.
