Hello all my Art and Culture Loving Friends,
We are bringing back the Salon here in the gallery and our first will be on October 14th with Andy Baird...We are inviting musicians, writers, performance and visual artists.
Since the Sixteenth Century, The Salon was a place for an informal education, a place to exchange ideas, receive and give criticism. to read, listen to the works and ideas of other intellectuals. Women had a powerful influence over the salon and played an integral roles as salonnières.
"These women sought freedom and fulfillment by reinventing themselves. At their salons, they inspired the creativity of several generations of writers, visual artists, composers, designers, and journalists."
Caroline Weber, Proust's Duchess.
Gertrude Stein's Saturday evening Salons overflowed with creativity and we can aspire to follow in her footsteps...Our Salon will be informal (cushion and floor lounging) and will flow with the creative energy of all in attendance.
We hope to engage in enlightening conversation, watch art being created, listen to music and spoken word. Uncover the source of inspiration for artist's contributions to culture, art, literature and life.
We are inviting input with open arms and inclusiveness.
With Love,
-Gertrude and Angela
