Greetings! We hope you can join us for the next SCALE meeting, either in person at the LINK Event Center (2200 Trail of Dreams, Prior Lake, MN 55372) or via Zoom, this Friday, June 12 (see below for the login information).
After the usual welcome from Chair Mayor Chris Kostik (Credit River), we will deviate a bit from previous practice and jump right to the main agenda item -- the 2026 Minnesota Legislative Session and what, and what did not, get accomplished.
That's all folks (until January 12, 2027)...
The 94th session of the Minnesota legislature adjourned sine die on Monday, May 18 with a flurry of bills regarding capital investment, tax refunds, housing assistance, and the prevention of fraud (among others). SCALE lobbyist Tony Albright (Poul Haas) will open the discussion about what happened (and how it will affect Scott County) and what did not (and how that, too, will affect Scott County), with a particular focus on the SCALE priorities.
Albright will then open up the larger conversation to members of the Scott County legislative delegation for their perspectives on the session and invite SCALE members to participate in a larger Q and A.
Meeting host update
Have you heard of the Scott County Public Safety Foundation? Whether you have or not, this meeting host update promises to be highly informative. Hosted by the Board of Directors (Scott County Attorney Ron Hocevar, Scott County Crime and Drug Prevention Coordinator Jessica Schoenwald, Tim Mulcrone, Doug Schnurr, Jeff Vizenor, and Kyle Haugen), we'll hear about how the Foundation is advancing its mission to "...support and elevate public safety initiatives by funding community-based programs, events, and outreach efforts. The organization works to build trust between public servants and the people they serve, ensuring that Scott County remains a safe place to live, work, and visit."
Open Forum
And as usual, we'll round out the morning's agenda with an Open Forum, a time dedicated to opening up the meeting to any member who wants to share any news, upcoming events, or celebrate successes!
We hope you can join us in person or via Zoom on June 12 from 7:30 to 9 AM. See below for how to access the meeting virtually.
The entire agenda can be found here.
