Worship

Please join us on each Sunday at 10am for our in person worship. Bring family and friends! All are welcome! Church school is recessed during July and August, so watch our calendar for updates.

Reminder

On Thursday, September 3 at 6:30 pm, Bishop Heyd will be in our sanctuary to discuss his decision-making process with regard to Fr. Daniel’s time with us. Please mark it on your calendar and try to be here so we can all have clarity and closure.

S.D.H.C Mini Food Pantry

Fishkill church of the Nazarene has been in charge in August. Trinity will take over in September. Please sign up in the parish hall if you are interested.

Save the Date

On Sunday September 13th we will have our annual picnic at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls, NY. There will be a worship service at 10AM, followed by games for the children, plenty of food, and time to socialize. Cliff’s band will be able to join us, too, and entertain us with Beatles music and popular hits from the past. Be sure to plan to attend this fun kick off for Trinity Church and friends on September 13th!

Please Sign Up! Sign-up sheets are in the narthex and parish hall.

Trinity Book Club

Trinity Book Club will be meeting on Tuesday, September 1, at the Red Line Diner in Fishkill, 12 noon, to enjoy each other's company, have a nice lunch, and discuss the book The Lost Wife by Alyson Richman. Please call, or text, Pam Bunker at (845) 204-4572 to let her know if you would like to join in so that a reservation can be made if need be.

Bishop Heyd Monday Notes

We begin each day in the Diocese of New York with prayer together.

Three years ago we launched online Morning Prayer at 8 am each weekday. It’s a 30 minute service that uses the rite II version from the 1979 Book of Common Prayer.

  • I officiate along with postulants and candidates for ordination; more than 100 preachers from across the Diocese (and beyond) have offered 5 minute homilies with diverse reflections on the daily lections.

The service has grown into a wonderful community. Between 150-180 people join daily from every region of the Diocese.

  • Five hundred years ago, Archbishop Thomas Cranmer created the first Book of Common Prayer to adapt the Benedictine daily office to serve the whole gathered Christian community. It was prayer that formed the rhythm of common life with the Gospel proclaimed in language everyone could understand.

Archbishop Cranmer couldn’t have anticipated a zoom service where participants can join while getting ready for work or riding on the bus or add their prayers in the chat function.

  • Now, people who see each other online in the morning meet in-person at diocesan events. We pray together every day for the needs and concerns of the Diocese and the world.  The community means the world to me.
  • The service helps bond us together as a whole diocesan community that’s both local and shares in common mission together. Even in very different form, that’s Archbishop Cranmer’s gift to us.

Prayer also helps bridge between communities. On Friday night we joined with interfaith leaders at Central Synagogue in Manhattan for their Shabbat service as the community gathered for the first time since someone disrupted the service and attacked a Central congregant the week before.

  • It was a beautiful and moving service. Representatives from St. Bart’s, Trinity, and St. Mark’s in the Bowery attended.
  • We were clear that we stand together and that all faith communities should be places of safe belonging.

Prayer anchors our lives in Christ; our prayers also open us to see what’s sacred in each other.

We’ll gather this morning at 8 am. I hope that you’ll join Morning Prayer this fall. I’m grateful to Alito Orsini for producing Morning Prayer daily and to the Rev. Deacon Cindy McCloskey for coordinating over the last several weeks while I was away.

I’m glad to be back.

Grace & Peace,
