Veteran focuses on research during his time at WKU
Jeffrey Powers, an Army veteran and graduate student in the Department of Psychological Sciences, served as a medic in the U.S. Army with tours to Iraq and Afghanistan. “I wanted to move away from treating the physical injuries of war,” he said. In 2011, Powers suffered an injury in Afghanistan that required surgery and physical therapy. “I realized that I didn’t want to treat the physical injuries of war anymore, but (knew) it was important to have veterans that continued their service maybe even outside of uniform. And, I wanted to treat the more mental injuries of war. And, I thought that psychology would be a good way to do that.”
Jeffrey Powers will complete his master's degree at WKU this summer. Learn more about Powers' story in the View from the Hill .
