Using student data, WKU researchers aim to improve learning
The average person spends as much as 12 hours per day consuming media, both traditional and online. That time spent in front of screens can introduce our brains to more than 30 gigabytes of information each day. It’s an interesting paradox: Although many of us are confronted daily by more information than ever before, we may or may not be effectively absorbing (and using) that information. Helping WKU not only improve information literacy, but also civic literacy, is the focus of research that’s underway by Dr. Gayle Mallinger (above left) and Dr. Molly Beth Kerby (above right).
Spotlight: Dr. Stephen Locke
After graduating from WKU with an Economics degree in 2008, Dr. Stephen Locke decided to head to graduate school rather than deal with an unstable job market. After earning a PhD and spending a couple of years as a researcher at UCLA, he made his way back to Bowling Green and the Department of Economics.
