"Madisan Biordi has been an Aquariums Assistant here at Sandoway for over a year and has been extremely helpful with the care of our aquatic animals," Zach Graff, Aquarist, tell us. "Over the past year volunteering with us, Madi has learned many important aspects of the marine science field including water chemistry testing and control, the design, function, and maintenance of aquatic life support systems and how to properly care for the many aquatic organisms in our exhibits including fish, sharks, rays, and corals."
Madi is currently a Freshman at Florida Atlantic University, studying to be a Marine Biologist, with a specific interest in becoming an Aquaculture Specialist. She feels strongly that people need to learn that the ocean and the marine life in it are beautiful, even if they can look dangerous. Her favorite part of volunteering at Sandoway is speaking at shark feedings and educating the people who come through the center. Her goal is to make people aware of how we can save the ocean before it's too late. "The critters and I are very grateful to have Madi here as part of the team!" adds Zach. Thanks Madi! We all appreciate everything you bring to Sandoway!
