🌱 We're still planting seeds!

This initiative is all about growing mentorship opportunities and empowering the next generation now through June 30th. Recruit a friend or a relative to become a donor this Spring. Any amount helps.

Let’s plant hope together. 💛

WE'RE A TARGET CIRCLE PARTICIPANT. VOTE FOR US!

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Carolinas has been selected as a participating nonprofit in the latest Target Circle Community Giving Campaign! From now through June 30th, Target Circle members can vote to help support mentorship in our community.

Every vote supports bright futures through mentorship. 🎯

Greetings Big Brothers Big Sisters!

I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful spring weather! The end of the school year is rapidly approaching. I encourage all of you to please check in with your Little frequently this time of year to ensure they are getting their assignments completed, are well prepared for their year-end exams, and on the path to advancing to the next grade level.

This is where our support as mentors and agency resources can be very impactful. Engaging more with parent(s) and or teachers may be required to understand if tutors or extra assignments or classroom support are needed. We want to help eliminate any barriers to a Little’s academic success. Your extra focus will help make all the difference in the world to ensure your Little is successful. If you have a Little who is graduating from high school, please engage with your Match Support Specialist to ensure your Little has a solid plan to enroll in a 2 or 4 year college, enlist in the military or have a job/trade skill training that will ensure they are in a position to thrive financially. Just a reminder, we will support them until age 21.

As always, thank you for all that you do to be a great mentor and caring friend to your Little!

Yours in Service to Youth,

Donna Dunlap

Field Day was a BLAST!

The High School Bigs program at Rama Rd wrapped up the year with a fun-filled Field Day, packed with games, laughter, and memories. Students rotated through a variety of exciting activities, cooled off with refreshing ice pops, and celebrated the close of a fantastic year.

A huge congratulations to our graduating seniors! Thank you for your time, dedication, and for making a lasting impact on your Little. We can’t wait to see all the amazing places you’ll go — just like Dr. Seuss said!

Special thanks to Big Sister Mary Owen and her classmates from the IB program at Charlotte Country Day School for creating thoughtful goodie bags for all our Littles. Thank you to Big Brother Adam Derbidge and the Marketing and Public Relations team at Ally for providing end-of-year gifts for our Bigs. Your generosity and support mean the world to us!

THANK YOU ALLY FINANCIAL!

Ally Financial provided our Littles with a treat to bring in the spring! Thanks Ally for assembling and donating potted plant “grow” kits and snack treat bags for the Littles in our program! The kits were from Ally’s Marketing and Public Relations team, and it was organized by the Community Involvement Pillar. Big Brother Adam Derbidge works as a Senior Marketing Specialist for Ally, and he is one of the Volunteer Leaders for Ally’s Charlotte office.

Parent Educator, Kris Hawkins, provided participants with tools and resources to support overall wellbeing and mental health. Participants role-played real life scenarios to practice solution-based conflict resolution and effective communication. Thanks Teen Health Connection for hosting!

Bigs and Littles are invited to join us for our 21st annual Big Day at the Lake event on Lake Norman! Registration opens the first week of June. Keep an eye out for the email!

Teen Craft Night Out was a success!

Matches with Littles ages 13 and up came out for a Teen Craft Night Out. Matches socialized with one another and enjoyed pizza while they completed multi-media vision boards at the North County Regional Library.

TEEN NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM!

Come join us for the next teen night out while we continue to tap into our creativity at the Mint Museum Randolph!

HIGH SCHOOL BIGS

RECOGNITION NIGHT!

We had the best time celebrating all of our High School Bigs at our annual Recognition Night! These high school students selflessly take time out of their busy schedules to meet with their Littles weekly. We appreciate their commitment and dedication to their Littles!

A special shout out to our High School Bigs Big Brother of the Year, Wil McDermott, and our High School Bigs Big Sister of the Year, Piper Seavey!

LET'S CELEBRATE!

Our site-based programs at Coltrane-Webb and Forest Park Elementary schools had a fantastic time at our end of year party! Bigs and Littles ate pizza, sushi, and cookies while reflecting on their goals for the year and all the fun they’ve had eating lunch with their mentors. We can’t wait to see them again in the fall!
