Municipal Leadership Development Review - Focus Groups

You’re invited to join a virtual focus group to help shape the future of the Municipal Leadership Development Program (MLDP) in Saskatchewan.

The MLDP is a made-in-Saskatchewan training program that has supported municipal leaders since 2003. It offers courses that help build skills in areas like governance, human resources, strategic planning, financial management, community planning, and economic development.

The program is currently undergoing a review to ensure it remains relevant, effective, and accessible for today’s municipal leaders. Whether you're newly elected, a long-time leader, an administrator, a partner organization, or someone who supports local government in other ways — your input is important.

We want to hear your ideas on how to make the MLDP stronger, more inclusive, and better aligned with the needs of leaders across Saskatchewan.

Upcoming Focus Group Dates and Times:

Choose one of the following 90-minute virtual sessions:

  • Monday June 2, 1-2:30 p.m.
  • Friday, June 6, 9-10:30 a.m.
  • Tuesday, June 10, 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

To join, please reply to admin@prairiewildconsulting.ca with:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • The timeslot that works best for you

Participants will receive the meeting link and any additional information ahead of time.

This engagement is being facilitated by Prairie Wild Consulting and Braid Consulting, on behalf of the MLDP Subcommittee.

Provincial Fire Bans

Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency

It is important to know when and where you can burn in Saskatchewan.

Municipalities, regional, and national parks can ban open burning in their areas of responsibility. Check with your local authority to find out if there are burning restrictions in place before you burn.

Campfire restrictions may be put in place for specific provincial parks and recreation sites, based on local conditions. More information can be found at Tourism Saskatchewan.

To add or remove a fire ban from this list, municipalities should call 1-866-404-4911.

SaskAlert

SaskAlert is the Government of Saskatchewan's emergency public alerting program. This program sends alerts about emergencies in real-time so you can keep yourself, your family and your property safe.

How to Get SaskAlerts

Download the SaskAlert app from your device's app store or register to receive alerts via text message, email, or landline. More information including download and registration links can be found on saskpublicsafety.ca.

Municipalities can also register for access to issue alerts in their area by contacting the SPSA through the link below.

FieldCheck App for Pesticide Applicators

FieldCheck is a critical tool for pesticide applicators. Applicators can visit the FieldCheck map before spraying to locate areas identified for sensitivity to improve decision-making and avoid damage from spray drift.

Pesticide applicators in agriculture (ground and aerial) and outside agriculture (vegetation management for right-of-way and invasive species, mosquito control, vegetation management, turf and ornamental grass) can find value from using FieldCheck. In addition to accessing a reliable, free mapping tool with clearly identified crop, apiary and field worker locations, applicators receive alerts when new and modified sites are added to the registry.

FieldCheck is free and can be accessed via desktop or mobile app. Currently, over 13,000 pesticide applicators use FieldCheck.

DriftWatch Registry for Producers

DriftWatch is a voluntary and free

registry that allows for improved communication and collaboration between producers of specialty, organic, conventional, and herbicide tolerant row crops and pesticide applicators. Producers can map their sites and provide contact information to pesticide applicators. The registry makes it possible to map vegetables, grapes, nurseries, tobacco, industrial hemp, herbs, greenhouses, orchards, tree crops, flowers, as well as corn, cotton, rice, and soybeans.

Pesticide applicators access the site to help determine the scope and location of specialty crops in their trade areas. Registered applicators can also sign up to receive email notifications when new specialty crop fields are added to their designated geographical area. As a primary stakeholder, state departments of agriculture and Canadian Ministries of Agriculture provide a key leadership role in implementing, administering and financially supporting this unique and effective stewardship collaboration tool.

DriftWatch is used by more than 35,000 crop producers.
