Message from the Principal

Dear DHS staff, students, and families,

Now that the polls are closed and the results of the 2024 election are known, it is time for us all to come together, to look ahead and to focus on our shared goals and the values that unite us as a community.

Civics is a requirement for high school students in Illinois, and for many students, being of high school age is the time when they really begin to become engaged with the civic process. We are here to educate our students and to guide our youth in what it means to be civically engaged. We want to help them practice that through constructive, thoughtful dialogue and by listening to diverse perspectives with respect and empathy. We do this with an explicit focus on our Warrior values.

Thank you for partnering with us to support our students in becoming thoughtful, informed members of our community.

As always, thank you for sharing your students with us this week and beyond

Warm regards,

Principal Anderson

S.O.S. Commitment to Service

The Student Outreach Services Club (SOS) plays a pivotal role in our school community by organizing various impactful service projects and fundraising initiatives each year. These activities include preparing PADS lunches for those experiencing homelessness, supplying essential items to animal shelters, supporting senior citizens, collecting clothing and toiletries for WINGS, and expressing gratitude on Random Act of Kindness Day, among others.

Recently, our dedicated SOS students united to pack lunches for the unhoused, demonstrating the profound difference we can make in our broader community. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to this remarkable club for their compassion and commitment to service.
