THIS WEEK IN HOUSTON
May 6–10, 2026
Houston’s art world doesn’t believe in easing into May. This week is packed with openings, performances, screenings, walks, and talks, including one very Houston-style celebration as Notsuoh marks 30 years with its four-day Dirty Thirty Anniversary Festival (May 6–9), featuring live music, installations, poetry, film, and creative chaos.
East End Movie Nights moves to Wednesday nights at Equal Parts Brewing. Curated by artist XZZX (Mariela G. Dominguez), this month’s series highlights biographical films about influential musicians from across Ibero-America (free admission).
Saturday brings Orange Show Center for Visionary Art’s The SLAB Social, celebrating Houston’s iconic SLAB culture with custom rides, DJs, food trucks, and swangas galore, while BOX 13 ArtSpace hosts its annual Empty BOX fundraiser later that evening.
And to top off whatever you have planned for Mother’s Day, consider catching the classic 1986 sci-fi thriller Aliens at River Oaks Theatre!
