Beyond Square Footage: Designing Offices Around How People Work

As companies rethink their office space to better support employees, workplace design is increasingly focused on providing flexibility and creating opportunities to connect and collaborate. Taylor Johnson client Hiffman National recently put these principles into practice with the redesign of its Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., headquarters. Recognizing the project offered valuable insights for other companies considering their own office buildouts, we pitched and secured an opportunity for Ariadne Kerekes of Hiffman National to share lessons learned in a byline for REjournals. TJ worked with Kerekes to explain how employee feedback informed the design of the new office, which transformed a long-vacant bank branch off of the property’s lobby into a dynamic, brand-forward workspace that helps activate the entire building.
