Spotlight on Honorarium Group

Gone But Never Forgotten

Finding Comfort in Community: A Safe Space for Those Navigating Loss

Grief doesn’t follow a schedule. It doesn’t look the same for everyone. And it certainly doesn’t come with a manual. That’s why a compassionate group in our community has come together to offer something truly special—a safe, welcoming space for anyone who has experienced loss.

Whether you're a child, a teen, or an adult, this group is here for you. Twice a month, on the 2nd and 4th Friday, people gather not just to talk, but to connect, to heal, and to feel a little less alone. There’s no pressure to share—just an open invitation to be yourself, wherever you are in your journey.

In addition to one-on-one support, the group hosts workshops that focus on self-care, creativity, and connection. From soothing paint nights to inspiring guest speakers, each event is designed to gently support the healing process. And because grief is deeply personal, the group embraces every individual’s unique timeline and experience.

Best of all, this service is completely free.

If you or someone you know could benefit from this kind of support, reach out to Lorna at 902-989-3217 or email lorna_ken222@hotmail.com to learn more.

You don’t have to go through this alone. We’re here—and we’re listening.

Community Stewardship Making a Real Impact

The St. Margaret’s Bay Stewardship Association (SMBSA), a long‑time Bay Treasure Chest partner, has shared some exciting updates from their ongoing conservation work.

This year, SMBSA documented Atlantic Salmon successfully breeding in the Ingram River—a remarkable milestone following nine years of habitat restoration alongside Adopt‑a‑Stream and the Nova Scotia Salmon Association. They’re now advocating for the area’s designation as the Ingram River Wilderness Area to help protect this fragile species.

Their volunteers have also been hard at work: in 2025 alone, they removed over 1,500 pounds of waste from the St. Margaret’s Bay watershed, bringing the total to more than 42,000 pounds cleared since 2012.

Looking ahead, SMBSA is gearing up for a busy spring and summer, with up to nine seasonal staff supported by Bay Treasure Chest funding and approximately 5,000 volunteer hours recorded each year.

These efforts showcase the powerful impact of our community partnerships—thank you, SMBSA, for your dedication to protecting and restoring the natural spaces we all cherish!

Follow SMBSA here for more updates and events.

Rosie: Ready to Retrieve the Spotlight!

a red Golden Retriever laying on the floor wearing a tilly hat.

Meet Rosie, a sweet and affectionate 2‑year‑old golden retriever who lives with her family in Timber Trails, Hammonds Plains. Rosie loves chasing and retrieving balls and enjoys going on long hikes with her humans. She also has a strong family presence in the park—her mom, dad, sister, and grandmother all live nearby, making it a friendly and familiar environment for this happy golden girl.

And keep your eyes open—if there’s a ball rolling by, chances are Rosie’s already on the case!
