The 360 Has a New Name: Scouting Spotlight!

Our monthly 360 is relaunching at the end of this month, with a new name- Scouting Spotlight! We want to highlight the incredible things happening across the San Diego-Imperial Council and share the stories and moments that make Scouting special.

Send us your best photos from events, district activities, Eagle Scout projects, camp, training, service projects, and more. Help us showcase the adventures, accomplishments, and experiences happening throughout our Council! Please send any content to sdiccommunications@scouting.org.

Mataguay Work Party

Help us get Mataguay Scout Ranch ready for summer camp 2027! The October 3-4th work party will focus on roofing at Staff Cabin 2. The work party runs from 9:00 AM–5:00 PM each day.

Participants should bring their own food and wear work clothes appropriate for the work and weather.

Participants are welcome to camp in a tent or stay in Casita 4 on Friday and Saturday nights. If you plan to attend, please email Wyatt Havin at wyatt.havin@scouting.org.

Annual Golf Tournament

Tee up for Scouting! Join the San Diego-Imperial Council for the 44th Annual Golf Tournament on Friday, December 4, 2026, at Admiral Baker Golf Course in San Diego. Registration begins at 7:00 AM, with an 8:00 AM shotgun start.

Enjoy a great day on the course while supporting Scouting in our community. Whether you're looking to play, sponsor, or support the event, there are opportunities to get involved. For sponsorship information, contact Joe Garcia at joseph.garcia@scouting.org or 619-618-8234.

Join the Campmaster Corps!

Has your unit used a San Diego-Imperial Council camp for weekend camping, backpacking, boating, water sports, or other activities?

If you’re willing to help other units enjoy these same experiences and can commit to two weekends a year, consider joining the Campmaster Corps!

Campmasters serve as the friendly face of camp, supporting weekend camp and waterfront reservations, helping units access facilities, and providing equipment, supplies, and other services.

Campmaster Corps Training & Sign-Up will be held October 14, 2026, from 6:30–9 p.m. at Atherton Hall, 1207 Upas Street, San Diego.

Meet Movo: A New Way to Connect Families with Scouting

Movo is now live and is helping families get answers as they explore Scouting! Movo is a new virtual assistant designed to help prospective families learn more about Scouting and connect with local units. When families visit BeAScout.org and are looking for a Scouting opportunity, Movo can help answer questions and provide information based on what is listed on local each unit's BeAScout pins.

This makes your unit’s BeAScout pin more important than ever. Movo may use the information on your pin to answer questions about your unit, so please take a few minutes to review your listing and make sure everything is accurate, complete, and and current. This includes your meeting day and time, meeting location, registration information, costs, how families can visit or get involved, and other important information for prospective families.

Movo is available to families 24 hours a day, helping them get information when they are ready to explore Scouting. If a question comes up that Movo cannot answer, the unit can be notified so a leader will follow up directly with the family. Keeping your BeAScout information current helps ensure families receive accurate information and makes it easier for them to take the next step.

Please review your unit’s BeAScout pin today and update any information that is outdated or missing.

Need help making changes?

Follow the Update Your Be A Scout Pin instructions from Scouting America for step-by-step guidance.

Become a Short-Term Camp Administrator

Every San Diego-Imperial Council short-term camp or training event of three nights or less needs a trained Short-Term Camp Administrator to help ensure the event meets National Camp Standards. Administrators help review event locations, complete required paperwork and approvals, confirm facilities and programs are safe, and work with planning committees to ensure all activities meet applicable standards.

This opportunity is open to registered Scouters age 21+ with current Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT) and AB 506. National Camping School online training is available for $75 for first-time certification and $65 for recertification, with certification valid for two years.

Zip Line & Climbing Wall

Take your adventure to new heights at Camp Bashor at Otay Lakes County Park! Scouts BSA, Sea Scouts, and Venturers can experience the 600-foot zip line, while Scouts of all ages can challenge themselves on the climbing wall. Programs are offered on the 4th Saturday of each month, with registration required.

The climbing wall features three routes with auto-belay systems, while the zip line offers two lines with speeds up to 22 mph. No walk-ins are permitted. For group requests on non-standard dates or more information, contact sdiccamp@scouting.org.

All Terrain Wheelchair

Thanks to a generous grant from the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, the council now has an Off-Road Wheelchair from Extreme Motus, allowing Scouts and adults to participate with their units in hikes over rugged terrain, camporees, and other outdoor activities.

If you are interested in using the Off-Road Wheelchair, please visit the Special Needs & Disabilities Committee webpage and complete the reservation request form located at the bottom of their webpage.

Philmont 2028 Informational Meeting

Do you want to go to Philmont but your troop is not going? Does your troop not have enough Scouts interested to fill out a crew? Don’t have enough adult advisors?

Then the SDIC Philmont Contingent is your Ticket to Adventure! SDIC is putting together Scouts and leaders from across the entire Council to build up crews for the Summer of 2028. Come find out everything you need to know to get to Philmont, Tuesday night, September 29, or Thursday night, October 22, both at 7:00 PM at the Scout Hut in Lindo Lake Park in Lakeside. Meet others who are interested, and hear all the details about costs, scholarships, training, transportation, and everything else you need to know to decide if this trip is for you.

If you have questions, or can’t make it but want to know more, call or email John Saxer at (858) 395-4581 or jsaxer@cox.net.
