Scouts and families from Pack 2831 and Troop 2860 joined active service members, veterans, and Secretary Craig Crenshaw to place flags on the Hill of Heroes at the Virginia War Memorial. Together, they honored the 12,000 fallen military heroes from Virginia in a meaningful and moving tribute. This is a truly moving example of our Duty to Country in action! Thank you, Scouts, for your contribution to the Hill of Heroes! | | Hello, Heart of Virginia! | | | | |
Hazardous Weather Training
Required for Direct-Contact Leaders
Hazardous Weather Training is required for all direct-contact leaders in Scouting America, and helps Scouting leaders recognize and respond to weather-related risks during Scouting activities. This online course provides essential knowledge to plan safe outdoor adventures, assess weather threats, and take the right action when conditions change. It’s an essential part of ensuring youth safety in the outdoors. This 30-minute training must be completed every two years. At a minimum, one adult leader must complete this before a unit can camp with youth.

National Parks Scout Ranger Program
For Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA & Venturers
The National Park Service’s Scout Ranger Program invites Scouts to connect with the outdoors through fun, educational service projects in national parks. By participating in activities like conservation projects, ranger-led programs, or community cleanups, Scouts can earn certificates or a special Scout Ranger patch. The program helps youth discover the importance of protecting natural and cultural resources while building valuable skills. It’s a great way for Scouts to combine adventure with service and stewardship.
