Greetings!

We have spent a lot of time outside lately. Enjoying the days of mild temperatures. The boys thoroughly enjoy riding their 'bikes' and laughing at each other at random moments. What has been the biggest joy for me to watch is when something happens to one of them, they look at each other with 'the look'. The look is immediately followed by laughter. They laugh so hard, with such joy, that it causes Sam and I to laugh as well. It is truly a blessing to watch their connection grow.

We will continue the Connection Sermon Series where I will reflect on Maintaining the Connection.

I hope to see you there,

I Can Serve
Being a part of a Faith Community is a lot like being on a sports team: we don’t just show up for the games; we also go to practices, we work on skills at home, we offer to bring the team snack once a season, and so forth.

Developing the Holy Habits of worshipping in community starts when children are young, so on Sunday, September 18th, we will offer a Faith Milestone of “I Can Serve” for students in 4th-12th grades.

We want to emphasize how important we all are to the healthy workings of the Body of Christ—so, kids and youth will learn how to serve as acolytes, greeters, ushers, readers, Ambassadors, technology buddies, and more!

Please sign up below so we know how many to expect.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR!

Wednesday Night Dinners will resume September 21 and be held on the 3rd Wednesday night of every month.

We will also be packing backpacks after we eat so make sure to sign up for that below!
Looking for a way to contribute to Messiah and get a better tax break? If you are older than 72 and have either IRA or 401(K) accounts (or both), the Tax Code requires you to begin to withdraw a percentage of those previously tax free dollars according to an IRS table. That becomes taxable income.

However, it is allowable to have some of those dollars paid directly from your account to a charity. Those dollars would not count as earned income and that would have a greater tax reduction impact than simply taking the money and then donating it and taking a deduction. This can be a great way to contribute to Messiah.

Talk to your accountant, financial manager or broker for details.
NEW STUDY FOR THE TUESDAY AFTERNOON WOMEN'S BIBLE STUDY!

Please join us Tuesdays at 1 PM in the church library to begin a new Stonecroft Bible study entitled “God’s Love Through You: A Guide to 1 John.”

Curious Crew:

We gather in room 214/216 each Sunday at 10 AM and explore a variety of topics, authors, and genres with the mission of uncovering something new and thought-provoking.

We look at topics of spirituality and topics that speak into the injustices and brokenness in our world.

Please know that all are welcome!

Each of the remaining Sundays in August, we will be exploring interesting and inspiring video clips with discussion. Our new study uses Henri Nouwen’s book "Here and Now".
Parents of Younger Ones (POYO):

Ready to connect? Join us for The 5 Love Languages of Children by Gary Chapman & Ross Campbell. Study materials will be provided.

Each week we'll focus on the 5 love languages, discuss useful tips to enhance your child's learning, identify strategies to discipline more effectively, and support one another on the parenting journey.

After dropping off your young ones, meet us in Room 205 for fellowship and facilitated discussion.

Parenting with Christ in Mind:

Join us September 25 in Room 263/265 for a new study titled "Jesus Revealed: The I AM statements in the Gospel of John" by Matt Rawle

Brief synopsis from Cokesbury: "Light. Bread. Shepherd. Life. The Gospel of John uses these and other symbols to paint a picture of who Jesus is. Through the I Am statements Jesus describes himself with rich images, showing us that he is both fully human and fully divine and calling us as his followers."

In just a few weeks, we will end our online services and switch to live to stream. If you have not signed a photo release for your child, please do that here as those in children's message or acolytes may appear on the live stream.
