Fire Island Needs Your Voice!

Everyone with ties to Fire Island - whether owners, renters, occasional visitors or mainland residents - should comment favorably on the Army Corps of Engineers stabilization project. We need the dune, and we need to show support for it!

Please email either Robert.J.Smith@USACE.army.mil or Frank.Verga@USACE.army.mil to say:

You strongly support the stabilization project to rebuild the dunes ("FIMI") and the draft Environmental Assessment ("EA") for the following reasons (your choice):

1.     It will protect Fire Island's unique resources for beach recreation.

2.     It will protect Fire Island's unique natural habitat.

3.     It will protect both Fire Island and Long Island from future storms and will therefore protect the communities and property values on both islands.

4.     It will protect the businesses on both Fire Island and Long Island and the economies of both islands.

5.     It will enhance the unique partnership between the National Park and the Fire Island Association ("FIA") which represents the 17 communities on Fire Island.

We urge you to send a brief email today to register your support.

Comments are due by April 2, 2014.

Thank you,
Jay Pagano & Tad Paul
